About Honeymoon Israel

Honeymoon Israel (HMI) strives to make young couples of all backgrounds feel welcome in the Jewish community and to inspire them to incorporate Jewish values and traditions into their lives in their own way. HMI provides immersive trips to Israel for locally based cohorts of couples that have at least one Jewish partner and are early in their committed relationship, creating communities of couples who are building families with meaningful connections to Jewish life and the Jewish people. To date, HMI has run more than 130 trips from 23 cities across North America – bringing more than 2,500 couples to Israel.

About the Role

The Director of Talent and Culture is a new full-time remote position responsible for developing and executing the HR strategy and enhancing and driving forward Honeymoon Israel’s culture of belonging, trust, balance, and warmth. We deeply value passion and hard work, while also emphasizing family and flexibility. We are looking for a Director of Talent and Culture who understands and embodies those values and can help the organization grow while remaining true to our core principles.

Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, strategic, organized, and creative individual deeply committed to imagining and building HMI’s people function, culture, structure, and policies. This person is driven by the opportunity to build organizational culture best practices and initiatives, provide strategic direction and expertise for the full scope of the HR function, and provide HR advisory expertise with regards to leadership, coaching, employee relations, talent acquisition, culture, performance management, learning, and meeting/retreat design.

  • You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • You are a skilled project manager with attention to detail who can juggle multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an HR plan that aligns with the mission and strategy of the organization, resulting in innovative best practices and policies that will serve the full range of HMI’s HR needs and help build a high-performing culture of excellence, accountability, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Drive organizational health by ensuring values-aligned decision making in HMI’s organizational policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Build, implement, and lead the talent review process, employee onboarding, and ongoing training.
  • Create and implement a change management system, and steward diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice work throughout the organization.
  • Develop relationships with all employees to ensure professional confidentiality, trust, counsel, and guidance.
  • Proactively maintain a competitive approach to recruiting and retaining talent.
  • Develop, benchmark, and implement compensation philosophy and best practices.
  • Design and implement comprehensive onboarding and offboarding practices.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of high-level, impactful staff retreats and gatherings which foster organizational culture, team building, and professional development, and utilize the skills of the talent within the organization.
  • Coach and guide staff in addressing concerns and complaints to ensure fair and equitable treatment as well as compliance with labor regulations in all cities where HMI operates.
  • Mediate employee relations and performance issues while providing counsel to managers.
  • In partnership with the CFO, oversee all legal and procedural issues regarding HR, utilizing outside counsel when needed.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years’ experience in area(s) of organization culture, people management, and/or HR.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Certification or advanced relevant degree in areas of HR helpful.
  • General business and financial acumen with the ability to develop and utilize HR data and metrics as they relate to the work of HMI.
  • Knowledge of the population HMI serves as a basis for training and recruitment of talent.
  • Public sector/nonprofit experience helpful.
  • Unquestionable personal integrity, fairness, and credibility necessary to gain the trust and commitment of both internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to enhance and better internal policies and practices in regard to systemic inequality.
  • Applicants must be U.S.-based. HMI operates as a virtual nonprofit business and is open to multiple locations within the U.S. 

Salary range: $100-120K
