Job Description

Responsible for generating revenue by managing, recruiting, and expanding volunteer, donor and sponsorship efforts throughout the area. Maximizes funds raised for ALSAC, while increasing the support for and awareness of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Conducts high-revenue special events and implements core programs for general and multicultural markets throughout the area, works with and manages the coordinators, committees and partners of these events to maximize revenue and grow events.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Attain and exceed financial and stewardship goals, as established by leadership.
  • Uses interpersonal and sales skills to create and build relationships with volunteers, donors and sponsors through primarily face to face interaction, in order to recruit new partners and grow existing relationships. 
  • Uses fundraising knowledge to provide support, motivation, direction and resources for fundraising initiatives to volunteers, donors and sponsors through various communication channels, including personal visits, written correspondence and electronic communication.
  • Establish and activate high-profile national fundraising initiatives throughout the region, including but not limited to St. Jude Dream Home campaigns, radiothons, school-based events, promotions programs, multicultural initiatives, fitness events and peer-to-peer events. Includes recruiting volunteers and sponsors to implement national program best practices and maximize revenue.
  •  Develops personal cultivation plan for volunteers, donors and sponsors by writing thank you letters, conducting personal visits, attending donor appreciation lunches, regional volunteer recruitment events and regular follow-up.
  • Manages and cultivates volunteer, donor and sponsor relationships for events and programs on assigned book of business. Coordinates event logistics and maintains vendor contacts. Prepares written correspondence before and after events, and maintains accurate records of all event contacts and revenues. Requires use of personal computer.
  • Responsible for working leads, making sponsorship/recruitment pitches and closing deals. Conduct prospect research on potential sponsors and develop sponsorship proposals. Maintain and update contact information on shared target lists.  
  • Responsible for serving as lead staff person on events, promotions and partnerships.
  • Creates and implements marketing and recruitment plans for events.
  • Responsible for attending and executing events.
  • Research and be knowledgeable of current market trends and current happenings within assigned territory in order to develop new business.
  • Prepares and submits all required reports in addition to preparing progress and forecasting updates.
  • Assists and/or leads regional meetings as appropriate and participates in the regional budgeting process.
  •  Responsible for day to day management of assigned intern(s).
  • Participates in cross-training opportunities by attending events outside region, as available. Shares expertise on core programs and other soft skills acquired through experience.
  • Serves as a regional lead at management’s discretion. Obtains information for the region and communicates feedback related to program to regional team and management.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, national meetings, and training seminars.
  • Presents the organization to various companies, third party organizations, volunteer committees, at fundraising events, and through various mediums.
  • Prepares and submits all required reports in addition to preparing progress and forecasting updates.
  • Responsible for proper usage and maintenance for all company assets.
  • Involves extensive travel by plane and automobile.

Job Requirements: 

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (verbal and written) preferred, not required.
  • Requires knowledge of fund raising and public relations
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Face to face interaction with event volunteers/sponsors
  • Understand difficult verbal or written instructions
  • Understand data processing applications
  • Knowledge ordinarily acquired through Bachelor's Degree or 3 years fundraising, sales, marketing and/or related experience preferred.
  • Multicultural marketing experience preferred in select markets
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
