Job Details

Jacob’s Ladder Neurodevelopmental School and Therapy Center is looking for a Farm Manager. Applicants must have experience working with or managing agricultural/farm settings and have a passion for working with animals. 

Jacob’s Ladder is a non-profit, SAIS-SACS accredited private school serving clients pre-k through 12th grade, utilizing a whole-brain, whole-person educational approach. Additionally, as a therapeutic and rehabilitative-based entity, we help individuals from infancy to young adulthood using a comprehensive, integrated, evidence-based therapeutic service model. In addition to our on-campus schooling and placement options, we have a farm with a wide variety of animals. Our animals facilitate individualized and group therapeutic enrichment opportunities such as grooming, socializing, handling, feeding, walking, training, and more. Research shows that the use of animals in therapeutic settings has lasting positive effects on an individual's quality of life and wellbeing (Kathie M. Cole, Anna Gawlinski; Animal-Assisted Therapy: The Human-Animal Bond. AACN Adv Crit Care 1 February 2000; 11 (1): 139–149).

Compensation and Schedule Options:

  • Negotiable and dependent upon background, experience, education, credentials/certifications, and available positions
  • Full-time, exempt positions: Paid salary
    • Eligible for health insurance benefits, personal paid time off allotments, and paid breaks and holidays
  • Full-time, non-exempt positions: Paid hourly
    • Eligible for health insurance benefits and personal paid time off allotments
  • Part-time, non-exempt positions: Paid hourly
    • Not eligible for additional benefits  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide each animal with a loving, structured, and safe environment to prosper and grow
  • Complete animal care tasks and required documentation, such as feeding, handling, grooming, cleaning
  • Maintain accurately and organized health records of all animals 
  • Assist with vet visits, vaccinations, and other standard wellness tasks 
  • Observe behavior and health of animals, report pertinent updates to the Farm Director
  • Communicate effectively and professionally 

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience with animals and basic knowledge in the areas of care and needs, first aid, feeding, handling, grooming, socializing, and husbandry 
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. 
  • Desired:
    • Equine/Farm experience
    • Exotic animal experience
    • Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Office experience 
  • While study or experience in a similar field is desired, we welcome all applicants with a desire to learn and serve to apply and interview, regardless of educational background or experience
