Our Content Manager, Strategic Communications will manage multiple projects and campaigns that support strategic communication initiatives across different CSH teams and business lines with a particular focus on optimizing the organization’s digital channels (website, email, social media, video, and SEO).

CSH seeks a results-oriented individual committed to equity, advancing anti-racism practices, and sharing their talent to support our efforts to expand housing and service solutions for highly impacted populations. Working with the Director of Strategic Communication and Marketing and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for producing content that communicates the impact CSH makes in communities across the country. You will be critical to the team's success by writing and editing content and creating high-quality multimedia assets for CSH's digital channels. Your strong writing, editing, and graphic design skills will be crucial as you produce compelling, concise, and engaging content. Your exemplary attention to detail will ensure that all communication and marketing assets are error-free and through the lens of equity and the voices of the people we serve.

The preferred location for this role is a hybrid at-home/at-office option based out of New York City at the CSH national headquarters– though we are open to considering candidates for remote work and who live near a major US airport.  Please indicate in your application your preferred city/state location.

You will work collaboratively to:

Own Communications for a Key National Program

  • Manage the day-to-day production of content for a national program for publishing on CSH's digital channels, including the website, email, and social media.
  • Collaborate regularly with internal and external teams on designing, executing, and reporting annual communications and marketing plans for the program.
  • Project manage the program's communications calendar and coordinate content production with the Marketing and Communications Manager.
  • Organize and maintain the program's content via CSH's SharePoint and extranet.
  • Oversee graphic design production and ensure the program assets are produced on brand and in the lens of race equity
  • Copy edit submitted content.
  • Coordinate the production of assets with external vendors as needed.

Support Overall Digital Communications

  • Fully acquaint yourself with the CSH brand voice, style guides, and CSH Race Equity Framework that serve as a blueprint for how CSH communicates its work and to honor our commitment to appropriately amplify the voices of people with lived experiences of homelessness, institutional care, multi-sector engagement, and supportive housing tenancy.
  • Partner closely with the Manager on content planning, story ideation, content curation, design development, and campaign management.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and internal teams to develop content in various formats, including program reports, policy briefs, blog posts and articles, landing pages, press releases, webinars, fact sheets, infographics, videos, etc.
  • Lead the development of a portfolio of multi-channel content, including the website, email, social media, and more, by writing or copyediting original material.
  • Assist the Director and Manager in developing, updating, and maintaining branding and messaging materials.
  • Assist the Director and Manager in building thought leadership and earned media through media relations strategies by utilizing the CSH media monitoring tools.

Specifically, we are seeking you if you have:

  • 5-7 years of professional experience in content writing, copywriting, or working as an editor in a nonprofit, for-profit, or agency environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or English preferred – most importantly, we are looking for a strong writer and editor who desires to learn. Experience, including professional or life, may substitute for formal education.
  • A demonstrated meticulous attention to detail and a strong desire to prioritize quality over quantity.
  • A proven ability to be organized, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and pursue the team and program goals with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor and ability to build relationships.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color when writing copy, using images, and designing graphics.
  • Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations.
  • Strong computer skills and experience in Windows-based applications including MS Word and Excel; PowerPoint, WordPress
  • CSH uses a Microsoft Office environment. Proficiency is required or a commitment to self-learn and achieve proficiency upon hire.
  • Candidates seeking to work remotely or hybrid must provide their own access to a secure high-speed internet signal (preferably hard-wired) at a capacity sufficient to support video, web, and email processing simultaneously based on their personal work environment. This is typically 100Mb and above.
  • An understanding of institutional and structural racism and bias, white dominant culture and structures of power, and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities is preferred.

Compensation:
CSH offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our Content Manager, Strategic Communications in New York, our highest market, is $70,000 - $92,000. Ranges vary by geography and are reduced by 8-20% for mid and low market cities. Our ranges are broad and it is customary for candidates to join CSH at the lower half of the range to leave room for growth, learning, and development in the role and range. It is uncommon for starting salaries to fall above the mid-point. We negotiate actual salaries with final candidates based on their exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
