Kidz2Leaders (K2L) is a nonprofit ministry that exists to break the cycle of incarceration by providing stability, opportunity, and a Christian community for children of inmates and their families. We help them rise above their circumstances, teach them to become leaders, and provide a life of hope through Christ-centered programming in a loving environment. The entry point into our decade-long program continuum is Camp Hope, an annual, six-day overnight camp that begins at age eight. The program continuum expands to include leadership development, career and life skills training, higher education scholarships, individual mentoring, an alumni community, and family support services.

The Family Support Manager (FSM) will develop supportive, Christ-centered relationships with our children and families to provide the following: Christian discipleship, resource referrals and coordination, emergency financial assistance, and faith-based, individualized guidance through challenging circumstances. Ultimately, the FSM will support K2L’s goal of creating stronger, more stable family units for the children of inmates we serve, contributing to our mission of ending generational incarceration.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage with the children and families of K2L to develop trusting relationships. This will be through formal program opportunities and through proactively setting up individual or small group gatherings.
  • Support parents and caregivers of select families in the identification of challenges the family or child is facing. Work in collaboration with parents/caregivers to develop and implement a plan to overcome these challenges, which may include behavioral and mental health support, educational support, financial education, implementation of new parenting strategies, etc.
  • Ensure that all discipleship/support is aligned with K2L’s Christian values and Guiding Principles, and that ultimately we are guiding families using a Biblical worldview.
  • Develop tools using best ministry practices to track and assess family progress over time
  • Engage with local nonprofits, ministries, and social service agencies to become familiar with the resources available for K2L families in Metro Atlanta.
  • Create formal partnerships as appropriate with select agencies to efficiently refer families to services.
  • Facilitate the disbursement of financial assistance as needed.
  • As a member of the Program Team, support the implementation of K2L programs and events, including Camp Hope, Family Retreats, Hope4Christmas, and other special events throughout the year.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong commitment to K2L’s Christian values and a Biblical Worldview. Confidence in sharing the Gospel with families.
• Three to five years of ministry or nonprofit experience serving parents/families/children.
• Experience supporting a diverse community using cultural sensitivity and humility.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
• Availability for some evening and weekend programming, as well as flexible availability to meet with families.

Kidz2Leaders exists to break the cycle of incarceration by providing stability, opportunity and a Christian community for children of inmates. We accomplish this by helping them rise above their circumstances, empowering them to become leaders, and providing a life of hope through intentional, faith-based programming in a loving environment.
