LOCATION:

(one of three locations) Ability to work on site in one of our Virginia offices if/when COVID-19 conditions permit (NOVA, RVA, VA BEACH); as of 9/2022, currently hybrid 2days/week*  

 

DESCRIPTION:

New Virginia Majority seeks a full-time Elections Crisis Program Director to convene national, state, and local leaders and partners. The Program Director will assist in ensuring a coordinated response to an election crisis in Virginia and to safeguard access to the ballot box and the outcomes of elections. The Program Director will be housed at New Virginia Majority and report to its Co-Executive Director, and will engage closely with its political department. They will also work closely with and serve the interests of a coalition of organizations that includes several member-based organizations, labor unions, advocacy organizations, and the legal community.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Convene partners across sectors (ie- member-based organizations; litigators; communicators; etc.) to ensure strategic alignment; and coordinate the preparation and execution of identified strategies Undertake scenario planning/tabletop exercises to prepare for election crisis emergencies Gather resources and materials relevant to election emergencies and planning from state and national partners Identify and share information concerning likely voter suppression tactics in Virginia Work with partners to recruit and manage volunteers, including coordinating the training of volunteers Manage and track information related to election administration and voter access to help identify opportunities for improvements and for advocacy

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of social justice framework and electoral organizing with a commitment to social justice and racial equity Familiarity with Virginia elections law, or proven ability to quickly become proficient in the basics of Virginia elections law Strong organizing and project management skills Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders with competing priorities around a shared mission or goal Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills


 

 


 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Annual salary $55,000 to $60,000 commensurate with experience, and comes with an excellent benefits package.

 

NVM covers 100% of the individual cost and 75% of the family cost for medical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance for full time employees. Additional benefits include family and medical leave, retirement program with employer match, accruable paid vacation and sick leave, and monthly transportation and cell phone allowances.
