Job Details

GHA is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Community Engagement & Communications (CEC) Officer to build our brand within local, national, and global communities, engage new audiences, and activate our current supporter base. The CEC Officer will be responsible for defining and implementing the community engagement and communications strategy and action plan for GHA.  

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Vice President and will primarily be responsible for outreach to new communities and deepening GHA’s connection with our existing base of support through strategic communications and donor engagement. The CEC Officer will spearhead outreach efforts in particular with individual donors, GHA Alumni, corporations, foundations, and governmental partners. 
 
Key Responsibilities 

  • Developing communication channels and materials 
  • Managing website, newsletters, and social media presence 
  • Coordinating and activating support through media, journalists, PR agencies, etc. 
  • Engaging the Community (PR, awareness, and networking events) including social groups, networks, clubs, schools etc., and developing a concept for community volunteering 
  • Developing and managing the Young Leaders Council and Student Chapters 
  • Supporting and engaging the GHA regional networks 
  • Raising funds with donors and HNWI through community engagement activities, networking, and liaison 
  • Supporting active fundraising, development, and networking  
  • Attend meetings and conferences as needed to maintain the knowledge and skills required for the position 
  • Perform other duties as required 

Measurable Outputs and Performance Indicators 

  • Preparation of monthly programs and communications reports 
  • Develop Young Leaders Council and student chapter tools and materials 
  • Create and implement fundraising events and activities using both virtual and in-person strategies 
  • Build strategic relationships with HNWI, corporations and governmental partners; 
  • Assist the team in preparing grant reports and other relevant reports 
  • Organize and conduct training on marketing/communications for grantees, partners, and team 
  • Preparation of reports on the findings and lessons learned from program innovations 
  • Support organization-wide development and program events 
  • Design event materials and marketing collateral 
  • Provide input and update information related to program outcomes to the GHA website 
  • Develop and maintain marketing and communications tools for programs

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral): Sensitivity to and responsiveness to all partners, Respectful and helpful relations with donors and project staff. 
  • Ability to lead the implementation of new systems (business side), and affect staff behavioral/ attitudinal change

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Minimum of 5 years related international work experience (e.g. in PR, external communication, event management, journalism) 
  • Minimum of 3 years of communications and marketing experience 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills 
  • Strong relationship-building skills, ability to engage and inspire others 
  • Good understanding of the global health and development sector, faith communities and women’s networks, and civil society organizations in low and middle-income countries 
  • Ability to explain complex issues to external audiences and present the organization and its diverse programs in an appealing and concise manner 
  • Independent, target-oriented, and structured working approach 
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written/oral/comprehension). French and Haitian Creole an advantage

Compensation This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to a highly effective nonprofit’s dynamic team. The salary range is $63,000 to $71,000.
