Georgia Legal Services Program, Inc. seeks an attorney for the role of part-time Staff Attorney in its Augusta Regional Office. The Augusta Regional Office serves the civil legal needs of low-income and marginalized Georgians in multiple counties in east Georgia.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø Travel to outlying counties

Ø Handle cases in state and federal court and administrative forums

Ø Draft briefs, motions, and memoranda

Ø Conduct community legal education sessions and engages in outreach activities

Ø Participates with other advocates on action teams that explore and solve systemic issues affecting significant numbers of clients.

 

Requirements

 

 

Ø Graduate of an accredited law school and admission to the Georgia Bar

Ø Experience working with clients with low incomes or with potentially marginalized populations such as immigrants, senior citizens and persons with disabilities

Ø Demonstrated commitment to social justice

Ø Willingness and ability to work as part of a team in a professional and collaborative manner

Ø Great oral advocacy, writing and computer skills

Ø Reliable transportation and a valid Georgia driver's license; and

Ø Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

 

Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications. Starting salary for part-time staff attorney is $30,450.00 annually.
