NAPAWF is the only organization focused on building power with AAPI women and girls to influence critical decisions that affect our lives, our families and our communities. Using a reproductive justice framework, we elevate AAPI women and girls to impact policy and drive systemic change in the United States. 

NAPAWF was founded in 1996 to realize the vision of 100 AAPI women who recognized the need for an organization that would amplify AAPI women’s stories and experiences. Being seen and heard in the public narrative gives us the power to shape the policy and cultural change needed to gain agency over our lives, families, and communities.

Today, we are mobilizing and building power in 11 cities across the United States to create social, political, and economic change for AAPI women and girls. 3 of those cities have local staff on the ground. We also show up in solidarity for other women of color who are experiencing injustice and harms of oppression and marginalization.

Our work is focused in the following strategies:

We use the Reproductive Justice lens to intersectionally address three core issues:

POSITION OVERVIEW

NAPAWF is seeking a seasoned, independent and entrepreneurial community organizing manager in the Atlanta, Georgia area. The Georgia Organizing Manager is responsible for helping to build the strategic vision for NAPAWF’s work in Georgia to build a strong and powerful base of AAPI women and girls, growing our base and organization capacity in Georgia, identifying organizing opportunities, and supporting our Georgia chapter leadership to engage in local, state, and national campaigns, and drive our voter engagement work. This position will supervise and mentor all program staff in Georgia, and reports to the Assistant Field Director.

An ideal candidate will have a strong track record of community organizing and commitment to social justice with a proven ability to juggle multiple projects at once, build strong coalitions, and mobilize grassroots leadership.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Effective Organizer. Accustomed to working in fast-paced environments, you are committed to getting results and able to handle unique and dynamic organizing campaigns. You are well-versed in campaign planning and can handle multiple projects at a time. You are great at building relationships with existing and new people in the community, NAPAWF members and leaders to engage them in the organization. You love to talk to people and help them grow their leadership skills. Coalition Builder and Stakeholder Manager. With at least 3 years of leading issue campaign work experience, you are an experienced community organizer who has a strong commitment to community organizing, intersectional reproductive justice policy areas, and issues related to those who identify as AAPI and/or immigrant women and girls. You have strong organizational skills and are able to build and nurture relationships with local government organizations, non-profits, religious institutions, college/university student groups, other social justice and human right groups that work specifically with AAPI and/or immigrant women and girls. You love strategizing and cultivating strong leaders to move structural change work.  Organizational Developer & Strategic Planner. Having had previous community organizing experience, you are comfortable with creating training modules and other campaigns with minimal supervision. You are a technology whiz, able to create engaging, content-packed presentations and trainings. You are committed to building strong action-based programs and events and seasoned in successfully managing multiple tasks to completion with competing deadlines. 
  • Effective Communicator. As a seasoned spokesperson, you are able to synthesize the needs of those you serve and work with, addressing them in a way that is transparent, collaborative and culturally responsive and competent. You understand how to motivate and influence people and have excellent public speaking and writing skills. Social Justice Advocate. You are committed to a career pathway that supports social justice and advocacy efforts. You consistently demonstrate the ability to motivate various constituencies to be strong stakeholders in the movement while showing a nuanced understanding of building and sustaining a diverse and inclusive advocacy environment with a racial equity focus. 

POSITION DUTIES

Campaign Management

  • Oversee civic engagement and voter engagement work in Georgia and integrate this work with NAPAWF’s priority issue areas.  Identifies, develops, and designs organizing opportunities and campaigns at the local and Georgia state level and strategically connects local campaigns to federal campaigns. Provides programmatic and strategic support for NAPAWF leadership development programs such as Voter Defenders. Monitors data in the VAN and EveryAction databases and implement practices to ensure data integrity.

Supervision and Training

  • Hires, manages, and supervises 2-3 full-time Georgia organizers Provides support and accountability through regular check-ins and supervision with staff. Works with Georgia Organizers to basebuild and develop leadership of local chapter members to be leaders in NAPAWF’s local campaigns, the reproductive justice movement, and in the AAPI community in Georgia.  Works with Chief Field Officer and Assistant Field Director to finalize programmatic reports related to the work. 

Leadership and Vision

  • Helps build the strategic vision for NAPAWF's work in Georgia to successfully build a strong and powerful base of AAPI women and girls to advance reproductive justice in Georgia at the state level and at the national level.   Be a strategic thinker and be responsible for understanding the interests and needs among the diverse AAPI communities in Georgia through landscape scans, one-on-ones with AAPI & other ally organizations, and local leaders, in order to shape the organizing strategy. Cultivates new and holds existing relationships with key players within various coalitions and reproductive justice tables to advance the vision and mission of NAPAWF. Participates and represents NAPAWF in state-based and local coalitions. 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Manages the GA Organizing budget in collaboration with the Chief Field Officer and Assistant Field Director. Performs duties, as necessary, as a member of the NAPAWF team.

QUALIFICATIONS

NAPAWF is seeking someone who is highly organized, thinks broadly, has attention to detail, and has held administrative roles, ideally in an environment supporting a broad and complex set of actors and duties.  

  • Commitment to the issues of AAPI and/or immigrant women and girls, health, social justice and human rights Supervisory experience is a must Program management experience is a plus Experience and cultural competence working in communities of color in a social justice context Solutions oriented, with a lens of possibility and abundance Have experience in creating and leading projects Able to create concrete work plans with measurable goals Proven ability to garner local traditional media coverage of campaign work Strong organizational, written, and communication skills Familiarity with social media tools including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram  VAN database, EveryAction, and other CRM platforms knowledge a big plus Able to work independently, as well as on a team Open to learning and growing with a small, dynamic and fast-paced organization Ability to work flexible hours and travel

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary for this position is $60,000-$70,000 commensurate with experience. A highly competitive benefits package includes a 401k plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance. NAPAWF's medical plan is covered by NAPAWF at 100% for employee and dependents with no out of pocket costs, including prescription drugs costs. Qualified dependents may also be covered. NAPAWF also offers full-time employees 15 days of vacation in the first year, sick leave, flexible spending program options and personal/family leave as well as paid vacation between December 25th and January 2nd of each year.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND REQUREMENTS

This position is based in our Atlanta Office, which is located on Buford Highway in Doraville.

It requires regularly being able to sit or stand and perform computer based work, occasional lifting and travel may be required.  The person in this position should be able to engage in the diverse demands of the work, including the capacity to remain in a stationary position, operate a computer, and move about the office and outside of the office. There will be work doing canvassing and door knocking outside. They must have the capacity to work evening hours and/or weekends as required. Occasional travel is required.
