Director, Department of Family & Community Interventions

The Department Director will provide a strategic vision for all services offered by the department and will collaborate with other agencies and special interest groups to advocate for, and advance the needs of, the children, families and communities served by the department and the Institute. The department director has a real and significant impact on effecting change in our community and has the potential to become an assistant vice president or vice president at the Institute, as well as to have a faculty appointment at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

 

Required Education and Experience

 

Advanced degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field

 

7-10+ years of progressive leadership and management experience at a complex organization(s)

 

Training and expertise in, and a commitment to, clinical service delivery, with a focus on culturally and linguistically congruent, trauma- and evidence-informed treatment, as well as social justice for underserved and historically marginalized populations.

 

Leadership Skills

 

Emotional intelligence (people management and relationship management)

 

Flexibility and agility (situational astuteness and the ability to adapt)

 

Visionary thinking, with the capacity for strategic thinking

 

Exceptional communication skills

 

Financial stewardship and decision-making abilities, along with fiscal responsibility

 

Commitment to anti-racism, equity, diversity and inclusion

The Department of Family and Community Interventions is one of the largest outpatient departments at the Institute and consists of two programs: the Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress (currently a funded Category II site in the National Child Traumatic Stress Network) and Therapeutic Foster Care.
