Reports to: Managing Director, Nonprofit Services

Environment: 20% Remote/Work-from-home; 80% Casual Professional Environment

Status:  Full-time, exempt

Schedule: M-F; 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (EST), occasional evenings

(AMC) is a consulting firm that helps small and mid-sized nonprofit organizations improve their fundraising operations, including securing funds from individual donors; private foundations; and local, state and federal government agencies. We also work with businesses and corporations to develop corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.

Position summary:

AMC seeks to hire a remote Entry- to Intermediate-level Development Coordinator based in North Central Florida. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the AMC team including staff members located in Gainesville, Florida and the San Francisco Bay Area, California. The Development Coordinator will assist with client projects, including but not limited to managing online files, coordinating schedules and activities related to grant applications, researching new grant opportunities, market research, and database management. You will gain skills in grant writing, project management, and foundation research. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in work in the nonprofit field, especially in fundraising and communications.

Key responsibilities:

  • Research grant opportunities using Instrumentl, Foundation Directory Online, Grantstation, Foundation websites, 990s, and other sources.
  • Complete research and writing projects as a member of a team of writers.

  • Manage client grant, program information, and updates using CRM software such as Salesforce.

  • Proofread, fact-check, and prepare proposals and other professional documents using Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets.
  • Manage and maintain deadline calendars and schedule deadline-associated tasks.
  • Manage efficient, easy-to-access filing systems (paper and electronic), and maintain and organize files (hard copy, Dropbox and/or Google Drive).
  • Maintain master language documents for 6 or more clients.
  • Coordinate and collect information, including taking minutes when needed, for client and team meetings.
  • Track all hours/projects in Asana & Harvest (project/time management software).
  • Communicate with the Managing Director, the Lead Consultant, and other team members daily.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
  • Coordinate work assignments for 1-2 part-time team members.
  • Perform general office duties, such as scheduling meetings, making telephone calls, organizing and handling information requests, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Other clerical and project support functions as needed.

Skills, Attributes, and Essential Job Functions Required:

  • Computer/software proficiency, including Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Google Drive, Docs and Sheets
  • Effective writing skills, a love of words, and a strong affinity for proofreading/editing
  • Organizational skills and a keen attention to accuracy and detail
  • Strong customer service and listening skills
  • Aptitude to problem solve and manage up
  • Motivated and self-directed with a positive and assertive attitude
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Adaptability and an ability to work with a small but impactful team
  • Natural curiosity – a desire to learn and an ability to engage with people
  • Must remain standing or sitting in a stationary position for most of the day
  • Move about inside the building and office to access file cabinets and office machinery

Preferred Technology Skills (previous experience a plus, but these can be learned):

  • Asana project management software
  • Foundation Directory Online, Instrumentl, Grantstation
  • Salesforce, Bloomerang, Constant Contact, Mailchimp, ZenDesk, and others

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills. Much of AMC’s work involves communicating complex ideas simply and effectively; all team members must demonstrate this ability.
  • College degree in any field.
  • Nonprofit fundraising and/or volunteer experience is a plus, but not necessary. Ideal candidates will possess a keen respect for the nonprofit sector and desire to learn more about the critical work of our clients.
  • Previous experience in an office environment, such as internship experience, with the ability to ensure professionalism and confidentiality.
  • The Managing Director reserves the right to change, alter, or reassign job responsibilities for this position at any time. 

Work Environment:

This position supports consultants in Florida and California. Professionalism and discretion are required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. The essential functions of the job require that the individual working in this position remain standing or sitting in a stationary position for most of the day and move about within the office and building to access file cabinets and machinery.

Salary Range:

$40,000-$45,000
