Rayo de Sol is an international faith-based nonprofit headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and serving vulnerable communities in Nicaragua. Founded by a team of passionate Christians who desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and are committed to putting their faith into action, Rayo de Sol works with individuals and communities in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, to create opportunities for personal transformation and social change.
Through the years, Rayo de Sol has developed strong working relationships with churches, governmental agencies, and a variety of local and international nonprofit organizations. Job Description
The Donor Relations and Development Manager will represent Rayo de Sol in the United States, helping to improve visibility, grow and nurture partnerships, and maximize fundraising opportunities. The core responsibility of this role is to grow and engage our donor base. This person will also build relationships with churches, schools, businesses, and other groups throughout the country, in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, to attract new ministry supporters, volunteers, and participants. Other responsibilities include special projects such as grant research and event planning.
The Donor Relations and Development Manager will receive work assignments from the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. Reporting will be done directly to the Board of Directors on activities and fulfillment of goals.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
Fundraising: proactively maintain regular communication with existing donors and develop strategies to attract new major donors, monthly donors and corporate partners.
Database management: record all donations and contacts in a timely and regular basis into a donor database for monitoring and analysis. Outreach to local churches and schools: contact churches and schools to educate others on Rayo de Sol and develop partnerships for volunteer groups, fundraising campaigns and in-kind donations.
Event planning: assist in the organization and planning of virtual and physical fundraising events in strategic locations in the United States
Grant research: perform initial research on possible grant opportunities for programs in Nicaragua.
Communications: help develop material to promote the organization on social media, and keep the website current and dynamic.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or related field is preferred
- Experience in event organization and planning
- Ability to graciously and effectively organize and supervise volunteer activities from time to time
- 2+ years of development and fundraising experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently to achieve ministry goals, as identified by key stakeholders
- Working knowledge of database programs and social media
- Basic knowledge of grant writing, research, proposal development, and submission process Proficiency in Spanish a plus
