Kidz2Leaders (K2L) is a nonprofit ministry that exists to break the cycle of incarceration by providing stability, opportunity, and a Christian community for children of inmates and their families. We help them rise above their circumstances, teach them to become leaders, and provide a life of hope through Christian programming and a loving environment.

Camp Hope, an annual, six-day overnight camp, begins at age eight and is the entry point into more than a decade of program opportunities for our youth. The program continuum expands to include leadership development, career and life skills training, higher education scholarships, individual mentoring, alumni relations, and family support services.  
 
The Community Relations Manager supports the recruitment and stewardship of volunteers for all of K2L’s year-round programming. In addition, this staff members works with local schools, ministries, and service providers to recruit new participants for K2L programs. 
 
Responsibilities:  

Volunteer Recruitment:
 
Communicate with staff to identify the volunteer roles needed each season.  
• Develop a recruitment plan to solicit both new and returning individual volunteers and groups from churches, youth groups, community organizations, schools, etc.  
• Promote the volunteer opportunities by making presentations, hosting info tables, hosting info sessions, meeting with potential volunteers one-on-one, etc.  
• Assist potential volunteers with identifying the volunteer position within the organization that best matches their skills and experiences.  
• Assist interested individuals with beginning the volunteer application and screening process.  
• Ensure appropriate communication takes place between new volunteers and the K2L staff members who will be managing the volunteers.  
 
Volunteer Stewardship:  

• Work with K2L staff to ensure each K2L volunteer has a positive experience during their time serving the organization.  
• Check-in with volunteers on an ongoing basis to answer questions, provide encouragement, and show appreciation.  
• Ensure each volunteer receives an appropriate thank you (note, gift, etc.).
• Communicate with volunteers to solicit feedback on their volunteer experience.  
• Coordinate small volunteer appreciation events as appropriate.  

Participant Recruitment 

• Identify schools, ministries, and service providers that work with children of inmates to identify potential new program participants for K2L. 
• Work with parents/caregivers and K2L program team to support the process of participant enrollment. 

Community Partnership Development: 

• Identify key businesses and community organizations that may be strong partners for K2L, and work with Executive Director and Director of Development to develop and strengthen partnerships.  
• Speak on behalf of Kidz2Leaders to organizations interested in hearing about our mission.  
• Recruit volunteers for fundraising events and campaigns.  
• Maintain awareness of K2L sponsorship and fundraising needs to communicate to community.  
 
Administration: 

• Support K2L Program Team in maintaining appropriate volunteer records, including applications, interview records, reference checks, criminal background check, driving record checks, training records, etc. 
 
Non-Essential Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of department and organization. Supervisory Responsibilities: May serve as a back-up manager to volunteers when program and development staff are unavailable.  

Qualifications:  
• Bachelor’s Degree  
• Experience supporting a nonprofit organization/church/ministry as a volunteer or staff member.
• Exceptional interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.  
• Experience and confidence with public speaking skills to groups of all sizes.  
• Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.  
• Availability for evening and weekend work.   
 
Physical Demands: Required to operate personal vehicle. Employee frequently lifts and or moves up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly required to talk and hear. Required to stand, walk, and sit. Required to use hand to handle or feel objects, tools or controls: and reach with hands and arms.

Working Conditions: Travel necessary by automobile, with exposure to changing weather conditions. Office located in Marietta/East Cobb. Up to 50-75 percent of time spent in off-site meetings, with necessary travel by automobile. Must be willing to work some nights and weekends. Employee will have flexibility to work out of K2L office or to work remotely, though occasional in-office work may be needed.
