The New Conversation Institute is looking for an Institute Program Manager to join our team to drive the advanced Deep Canvass Institute Cohort and coaching programs, helping to build the number of organizations running Deep Canvass programs. This position will support the DCI Training Manager to join our team to support our monthly deep canvass 101 skill series; quarterly training for trainers. This position manages work with contractors and researchers to evaluate and tell the story of the Deep Canvass Institute. 

The DCI Program Manager should be an experienced organizer or coach that is familiar with deep canvassing and has the capacity to manage and drive complex training/coaching  programs, with a diverse set of stakeholders.  This position reports to the Project Director of the New Conversation Institute. They will work in collaboration with the New Conversation Initiative consultancy team, and  People’s Action: Director of Strategic Initiatives,  DCI Training Manager, Communications and Movement Politics teams.

The Deep Canvass Institute Program Manager will: 

  • Manage the Deep Canvass Institute Advanced Cohort, a diverse set of organizations running deep canvass programs to share learnings, build communities of practice and assess needs. Create and drive recruitment and retention of the DCI Cohort members
  • Manage the Evaluation of the Deep Canvass Institute and work with a researcher to build that evaluation
  • Write and Coordinate monthly advanced Deep Canvass Trainings for organizations who are part of the Institute cohort
  • Manage contractors and consultants to complete specialized projects within the Institute re: Web design, video creation, graphic design. To build credibility and tell the story of the Institute
  • Coach organization's one - on - one to build strong deep canvass programs that help them to build a healthy culture and win on key issue campaigns
  • Support the Deep Canvass Training Manager in running quarterly Deep Canvass ‘Training for Trainers’ to help train hundreds of new ‘deep canvass’ trainers to support the expansion and development of new local deep canvass programs
  • Support the Deep Canvass Training Manager in running monthly Deep Canvass 101 training and work with a diverse training team to help deliver training for volunteers; People’s Action member organizations; and allied movement organizations
  • Speak publicly to promote deep canvassing and the Institute to a diverse set of stakeholders online and in person
  • Tell the story of the work by tracking the metrics of the  program and regularly updating the Institute network, funders and allies about the lessons, successes and challenges of the Deep Canvass Institute​​​​​​​

The ideal Deep Canvass Institute Program Manager will have:

  • Seasoned  experience in developing training programs and subsequent training curriculum to meet the needs of a group or to achieve a goal
  • Experience leading or managing large projects with multiple stakeholders
  • A minimum of four years experience working in community, labor, or electoral organizations in organizing roles, working with poor and working class people
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice and their intersections, both inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to work with diverse people and organizations
  • Experience as a trainer, training other trainers, and developing curriculum and enjoy doing so
  • Experience with Deep Canvassing

 Compensation and Benefits:

Status: Full-time, Exempt, benefits eligible

Salary Range:  $70,000 - 90,000

Location: This is a remote position and can be based anywhere in the US. Will include travel at least once per quarter.

Reports to: The New Conversation Institute Project Director.
