The Community Engagement Events Coordinator will play an important and active role in the Atlanta Humane Society’s community presence through event planning and execution as well as relationship and fundraising development. As a member of AHS’s Community Engagement team, this position will have the opportunity to develop and implement robust fundraising and marketing plans for raising money and spreading the word about community events. Along with building opportunities for new and exciting events, the Community Engagement Events Coordinator will take on the planning and execution of highly successful and engaging events like Puppy Yoga, Paint Your Pet, and puppy pop-ups. This Coordinator will also oversee aspects of major fundraising events, like our annual Bow Wow Brunch and Golf Classic Tournament, and assist in coordination and implementation throughout the year. We are looking for a customer service-driven, energetic individual who is eager to make a difference in the lives of Atlanta’s animals through spreading awareness about the Atlanta Humane Society and its mission. This is a full time position scheduled to work up to 40 hours weekly, typically in a 9 am – 5 pm office setting, but flexible schedule depending on the event schedule. Funding for this position is secured through January, making this a temporary position with the potential to turn permanent.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Planning and execution of community engagement and fundraising events
  • Fielding, managing, and responding in a timely manner to general event inquiries that come in via email and over the phone
  • Assist in implementation of fundraising plans and grow community-based programs, partnerships, and other engagement initiatives that help the organization achieve its mission
  • Assist with identifying and deepening relationships with various community stakeholders
  • Seeking out new event/fundraising opportunities in metro-Atlanta
  • Oversees aspects of and assists with major fundraising events throughout the year as needed
  • Responsible for managing and achieving monthly revenue goals & expense budget
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Customer service driven
  • Public speaking skills and comfortable working with groups
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with individuals or groups
  • Discretion in handling confidential information
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Preferred candidate possesses a basic understanding of animal welfare issues
  • Ability to problem solve and come to appropriate conclusions based on thorough understanding of AHS policies and procedures Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management
  • Self-reliant, highly motivated, and positive attitude
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software as necessary
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs.  and ability to walk or stand for up to 8 hours at a time with reasonable accommodations
  • Work is preformed in both an office setting as well as onsite at events
