Position Summary

CHRIS 180 is looking for a thoughtful relationship-builder who loves meeting new people and creating authentic connections between our mission and our donors. This role will be responsible for working with donors who give $1,000+, helping to grow our pipeline up to major gifts, maintaining relationships, and creating opportunities for engagement with our mission.

The Individual Giving Specialist is responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of contributions from mid-level ($1k+) and major donors (above $5K) and prospects (in coordination with the CDO, and Director of Development).

This position will play an important role in significantly growing CHRIS 180’s higher dollar donors and pipeline, building and managing a portfolio of prospects that expand the scope and scale of CHRIS 180’s philanthropic efforts, and helping formulate strategy and implementation of plans for individual donors that support fundraising goals.

There is an expectation that this person will be visible in the community and will be expected to be at a number of evening events as part of their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you:

  • Are eager to develop relationships with our current and prospective donors, helping them feel connected to the organization, staff and mission and recognize the importance of CHRIS 180’s mission and impact in the community.
  • Are knowledgeable about moves management and how to implement it effectively (identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors).
  • Can successfully manage a wide portfolio of donors starting from mid-level ($1k+) and identify and cultivate donors with the potential to give more.
  • Have experience writing and executing strategies relating to donor cultivation and prospecting, including how to implement our whole team in your strategy. We believe strongly in collaboration!
  • Can solicit on behalf of CHRIS 180 via written and verbal communications – this means making the ask, correspondence, strategic plans, invitations, reports, and more.
  • Understand how important a shared CRM is for the team and can contribute to and use it effectively as part of moves management. We use Blackbaud RE NXT and hope you’ll quickly become a superuser!
  • Love to represent CHRIS 180 in the wider Atlanta community at events, including growing your network of connections, donors, and prospects.
  • Want to play a key role in donor-centric events that further the connection between donors and CHRIS 180’s mission.
  • Can share information on planned giving opportunities as appropriate.

As a legacy organization that has been a bedrock in serving youth and families in Georgia through trauma-informed mental health services for over 40 years, there are a few traits unique to our nonprofit that candidates should consider before applying.

  • You believe that “no” is not a complete answer and that thinking creatively, offering alternative solutions, and collaborating to deliver results are critical.
  • You understand that everyone on the team gets their hands dirty together.
  • You are interested in helping heal children, strengthen families, and build community.
  • You understand that there is a potential for other duties as assigned.

A few other things we look for in our teammates.

  • Performance and Conduct
    • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
    • Follow the CHRIS 180 Code of Ethics
    • Support and maintain an environment of emotional and physical safety for consumers, staff and other stakeholders at all times
  • Demonstrate customer service
    • Promote a positive image of CHRIS 180 programs at all times
    • Work as a contributing and collaborative team member
    • Answer phone calls and emails accordingly
    • Respond to requests for information from internal and external stakeholders in a timely fashion
  • Maintain Personnel Information and Training
    • Attend and participate in staff meetings and required training as scheduled

Who we’re looking for:

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
