JF&CS is now seeking a Major Gifts Manager.

PURPOSE: The Major Gifts Manager will design, develop and implement our major gift program. You’ll be responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift prospects, as well as identifying new prospects. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our organization’s mission is key. The position plays a critical role alongside the Director of Development for the success of the Annual Campaign and the Resource Development Team in achievement to overall fundraising goals.      

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 Annual Campaign:

  • Work with Director of Development (DD), implement strategies and techniques to identify prospective   new donors to expand and deepen donor support of the Annual Campaign.
  • Maintain a portfolio of donors and/or donor prospects to cultivate and steward annually, with focus on gifts above $5,000.
  • Develop resources and relationships, including identification of donor prospects, donor research, cultivation and stewardship of donors.
  • Create stewardship opportunities for major donors and ways to engage with JF&CS.
  • Planning and coordination of major donor events in coordination with DD and Events Manager.
  • Solicit gifts and obtain increased donations.

Life & Legacy:

  • Identify and solicit potential donors for legacy giving, providing continued support to JF&CS.
  • In coordination with CDO and DD, develop opportunities for recognition through legacy giving.

Donor Stewardship:

  • Work with CDO, DD and RD Committee to develop and implement stewardship strategies and plans that strengthen   long-term relationships with major donors;
  • Write personal acknowledgment and stewardship letters for signature by executives, board members, and key   volunteers;
  • Collaborate with fundraising staff to develop acknowledgment and recognition procedures for donor gifts that are   consistent across audiences;
  • Work in partnership with staff to identify and develop recognition opportunities and events.
  • Develop and implement large meetings and/or events that advance donor involvement, cultivation and stewardship for major gifts and planned giving.

  • Experience and interest in development. 
  • Knowledge of and interest in the Jewish community. 
  • Ability  to build relationships with donors. 
  • Aptitude for detail and commitment to accuracy and follow through. 
  • Keen writing and editing skills desired. 
  • Proficient in Windows, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and fundraising database software. 
  • Experience with Raisers Edge/NXT database preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at one time and meet deadlines. 
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, customer-service focused environment. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Special tasks or events may require after hours or weekend work (evenings or Sundays).       

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor degree at a minimum; Master’s degree a plus.
  • 3-5 years professional experience in development/fundraising
