Princeton in Asia (PiA) believes in the power of person-to-person diplomacy and strives to shape a world where individuals share a mutual appreciation and respect for our planet’s diversity of cultures and perspectives. Since 1898, we’ve placed over 3,400 people in immersive fellowships and internships in 32 different countries throughout Asia. The cross-cultural understanding developed through these posts actively and effectively build bridges between the U.S. and Asia. We’re looking to grow our program and elevate our impact by bringing on a full-time Advancement Officer who can help us amplify how a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world.

As our Advancement Officer, you’ll lead the success of our annual giving, alumni relations, and communications programs in close collaboration with our Director of Advancement. Your days will consist of fostering a dynamic PiA community through the development and implementation of a wide range of engagement strategies including alumni programming, fundraising appeals, special events, donor and volunteer stewardship, volunteer management, Trustee committee support, and donor database management.  There will be plenty of opportunities to hone your storytelling in our communication materials, including an annual newsletter, an annual report, the PiA website, social media, and video stories. We’re looking for someone who can take the lead on projects and assignments, maintain strategic relationships, liaise with contractors and vendors, and interact comfortably and kindly with a wide range of people. If you enjoy the wide variety of projects working in a small shop affords and you’d be interested in growing your role here at PiA as your passions and skills expand, please apply – we can’t wait to meet you.

We love the great people the PiA mission attracts so we like to spend some days together in the office though we also value flexibility and respect personal workstyles. This is a hybrid position with 2-3 days a week based in our Princeton, NJ office and the others remote in your home office. We offer a competitive compensation package with a salary in the low to mid- $50K range and benefits that include a 401(k) plan, premium-free health and dental insurance, paid time off (three weeks of vacation, sick days upon request, 10 holidays, two personal days), and an annual Wellness stipend.

Here’s a closer look at the ways you’ll shape PiA’s impact:

  • Lead all aspects of a highly segmented and personalized Annual Giving program, which includes quarterly solicitations and a Giving Tuesday crowdfunding campaign. Assist with the planning and implementation of cultivation and stewardship activities. Support the work of the Trustee Development Committee and design, promote and manage effective Asia Region Ambassadors and Community Chapter Leaders volunteer programs. Plan and implement multi-faceted programs for alumni, parents and friends that increase community engagement, maximize utility of PiA’s 360 Alumni portal, and facilitate continued learning about Asia. Collaborate with our Director of Advancement, Executive Director and Programs Team to craft core communications messages and deploy an annual communication campaign that leverages multiple platforms, including print, digital and social media. Oversee our Little Green Light database to process gifts and acknowledgements, develop and run reports, create mailing lists, track event attendance and volunteer hours, and update and maintain records.

Here’s what we’re hoping you’ll bring to the team:

  • A minimum of four years of related experience, preferably in a fundraising role. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility, and creative approaches to how we can promote respect, dignity, and transparency. Demonstrated knowledge of donor-centered fundraising and experience with alumni relations, volunteer management and strategic communications. Proven strategic thinking along with project management expertise that allows you to creatively reach goals. Ability to navigate complex challenges with a results-oriented mindset. Strong personal work ethic and commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and fundraising best practices, as well as discretion with highly confidential information. Superior writing and editing skills with experience in preparing briefing notes, brochures, speaking notes, web content, correspondence, reports, and other communiqués. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, donor databases and other relevant applications. Availability to work some evenings and weekends and to occasionally travel domestically and internationally.
