Job Details

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

General Functions

  • Understands ISA’s mission and adheres to organizational and staff core values.
  • Develops relationships to strengthen ISA’s worldwide network of researchers, educators, and practitioners.
  • Provides exceptional project management skills to move projects forward successfully using project planning and oversight, staff deployment and management, subject matter expert deployment and oversight, vendor recruitment and oversight, and creative problem-solving.
  • Maintains clear timelines and annual budgets related to all phases of project development.
  • Organizes and manages electronic files and archives.
  • Establishes and manages processes to ensure consistency and efficiency in the development of online learning products and programs.
  • Coordinates with marketing team to promote new product and program launches.

Learning Product Development

  • Oversees the development and updating of e-learning courses and in person/webinar training courses from beginning to end. Prioritizes projects based on departmental goals.
  • Ensures consistency in the design of the overall learning experience for ISA’s online digital educational products and programs.
  • Provides leadership and support for LMS and other digital educational platform requests for proposal (RFPs), implementation, and administration.
  • Provides oversight on the LMS administration for ISA eLearning products. Responds to escalated help requests regarding LMS system and oversees rollout of new and updated courses.
  • Ensures that learning technology used is in compliance with general industry standards.
  • Provides project leadership to EPS team members and contracted vendors to bring projects from concept to delivery.
  • Looks for opportunities to convert outdated learning products to current products with updated content and delivery mechanisms.
  • Sources, reviews, and curates content that can be used in various ISA learning products.
  • Sources and manages outside vendor partners to assist with the design and development of digital learning products.

 

 

Other Functions

  • Protects and fortifies ISA’s scientific, peer review standards. Coordinates work with Subject Matter Experts as needed. Attends seminars and takes part in other educational opportunities to stay abreast of developments in the arboriculture and educational product development professions. Researches various learning technologies as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Yes. Instructional Designer. May hire and supervise other reports as department growth requires.

 

Management responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring decisions, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; resolving conflict and promoting positive employee relations in a collaborative work environment.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience working in web courseware development, eLearning, podcasts, in-person training, and/or other multimedia platforms in an academic or not-for-profit environment.
  • Proven project management experience, preferably with the development of learning products. Functional knowledge of desktop authoring tools and experience with design and management of eLearning modules is a plus. LMS implementation and administration skills are a plus. Experience working with an international audience is a plus. Knowledge of and experience in the arboriculture profession is a plus.

 

 

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written is required. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Ability to write correspondence and speak in a professional manner. Ability to read and interpret scientific literature and complex documents.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, develop conclusions, and determine appropriate action plans.
  • Ability to make decisions based on research and data collected.
  • Ability to resolve problems with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to accurately complete projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently to complete projects, with little to no day-to-day supervision.

  • Takes initiative researching information to ensure ISA remains current, compliant, and relevant with the products offered to our audience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to present information in a variety of formats.
  • Working knowledge of various models of evaluation (such as Kirkpatrick’s Model of Evaluation).

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
  • Moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequently communicates with internal and external customers.
  • This position requires occasional lifting, under 25 lbs.
