-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Atlanta Police Foundation was created by the City of Atlanta along with the Atlanta business and philanthropic community in 2003. It is an independent non-profit whose singular mission is to make Atlanta a safer city and is widely recognized as the model public-private partnership for public safety in the U.S.

APF is not an advocacy organization for law enforcement. We focus on public safety strategy and cutting-edge crime fighting technologies and 21st century police reform. APF ensures that our police department is well-trained operationally and culturally to ensure that its mission of community policing can be fulfilled with the support of the citizens they protect.

APF has been a driving force to improve relationships between the police department and all of Atlanta’s citizens, to address youth crime, to refine training on new policing techniques, to test and refine new technology to increase police effectiveness and visibility, and to build public support for law enforcement from citizens and the private sector.

APF’s focus is to create in Atlanta a state-of-the-art police force that will successfully fulfill its mission to reduce crime and keep our citizens safe – today and in the future.
