Donor Engagement Officer

KickStart International is seeking a talented and motivated Donor Engagement Officer to join our growing Development team full-time in a remote capacity. The Donor Engagement Officer is a pivotal role in supporting the ambitions of KickStart’s fundraising strategy to deepen engagement with our donors and attract new supporters. An essential team member of the department, the Donor Engagement Officer will report to the Director of Development & Individual Giving.

KickStart is an award-winning nonprofit social enterprise with a mission to empower millions of small-scale farmers in Africa to build lasting food and income security and adapt to climate change through the adoption of highly affordable irrigation technologies. We design and distribute these tools from our headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya—enabling farmers to grow crops throughout the year and create highly profitable businesses. With operations in 17 African countries, we have empowered over 1.4 million people to transform their farming and permanently break out of poverty.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will develop, lead and coordinate in-person and virtual events; conduct prospect research to identify potential donors; assist in stewarding the Enterprise Council, KickStart’s leadership giving group; manage and expand the Evergreen Circle, our recurring giving program; develop and implement crowdfunding campaigns; and develop weekly or bi-weekly posts for our social media channels.

The Donor Engagement Officer is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of KickStart’s donor database; creating and analyzing giving reports; ensuring that donors are promptly acknowledged; and occasionally uploading new content created by colleagues to KickStart’s website. Additional occasional duties include scheduling fundraising team, donor and Board meetings, and collating and disseminating quarterly Board reports.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

• Strong verbal and written communication ability.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; courtesy, discretion and team orientation with strong collegial and collaborative spirit.
• Strong ability to research, identify and distill relevant information using databases and Internet.
• Ability to think strategically and analytically.
• Detail oriented.
• A self-starter mentality with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
• Experience working in a non-profit, in fundraising and/or planning events is a plus.
• A drive and passion to help make a difference in the world. University degree or equivalent experience.

REMOTE WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time remote fundraiser position typically works during regular office hours. You will have the option of working remotely from anywhere in the United States. Our US team of five currently live in New York, Boston and San Francisco.
