Director of Development

Position Overview

Reporting to the President and CEO, BCM Georgia’s Director of Development develops and implements strategies for identifying, cultivating, and successfully soliciting financial gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other stakeholders. The job includes building and leading BCM Georgia’s Development Team, which is responsible for grants, special events fundraising, marketing and communications, and donor data and reporting.

Qualifications                                                            

  • A bachelor's degree
  • At least five years of successful fundraising experience, preferably in social services
  • Success in designing, implementing, and administering development plans
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Success identifying and sustaining quality external relationships with diverse constituents
  • Ability to manage multiple projects using teamwork to achieve Development goals
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, orally and in writing
  • Propriety in dealing with sensitive information
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain professional competence and credibility in representing BCM Georgia in the community, and a track record of building confidence and trust with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, train, lead, and evaluate an effective Development team
  • Working knowledge of fundraising and communications principles, and a strong commitment to the principles of teamwork and shared responsibility for success
  • Expertise with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or similar donor database

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for advancing no fewer than 150 stakeholders at $1,000-$10,000 range every year
  • Logs a minimum of 15 stakeholder phone calls a week
  • Increase overall giving in the organization by 5% year over year
  • Works with the President and CEO, the Development Committee of the Board, staff, and stakeholders, to identify sources of private and public support and recommend appropriate strategies
  • Plans and implements effective fundraising and communication programs that cultivate individuals, corporations, and foundations capable of supporting BCM Georgia’s mission
  • Direct the Development team to ensure all prospects are researched and assigned, solicitations are coordinated and completed, and that donors receive appropriate and timely receipts, acknowledgment, recognition, cultivation, and stewardship
  • Maintain excellent donor records and produce helpful reports from Raiser’s Edge
  • Oversee creation of fundraising materials including, case statements, brochures, videos, website, social media, solicitation letters, gift proposals, thank you letters, donor reports, impact reports, annual reports, special event materials, marketing collateral, etc.
  • Prepare and submit annual Development budget, as well as for special events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment BCM Georgia is a hybrid work environment, with a mix of in-person and remote job functions. Technology is provided for team members to work in the office and from home.

Work Hours

BCM Georgia operates Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm with a break for lunch. Some weekends and evenings are required.
