Manager, Events II

FLSA Status: Exempt

Who We Are:

The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from.  Since 1979, we’ve been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners – including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers.  We currently serve more than 600 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

About the Role:

Plans, manages, and executes special events to raise funds and awareness for the Atlanta Community Food Bank as part of the Development Department.  Plans and directs fundraising for all events of the Food Bank.  Provides communication to Board members, Food Bank donors, committees, and marketing and communications department.  Participates as a member of the Development Department to achieve financial, public awareness, and other goals.  Provides leadership to the events team and ensures execution of department/team goals.  Reports to the Director of Institutional Giving and supervises two Events Managers.

What You’ll Do:

Project Management

  • Leads and Manages Food Bank special events and promotions (internal/external)
  • Leads and Manages events team to execute logistics of the event pre-, during, and post-event (including but not limited to: logistics, safety, security, and liability)
  • Identifies strategies and objectives for fundraising events
  • Builds timelines for successful execution of events
  • Selects vendors and negotiates contracts
  • Manages sponsorships in collaboration with the Corporate Giving team and tickets sales for events
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Communication to build marketing efforts, materials for events and communications to support events. Works with Director on strategic planning and material approval

Builds and Nurtures Relationships

  • Leads cultivation and stewardship of donors before, during and after events and actively participates in the built-out strategies
  • Works closely with other departments to achieve financial and overall development goals
  • Creates strategic alliances to leverage needed goods, services, and resources for the organization.
  • Joins and participates in organizations and associations to build relationships within the community
  • Leads volunteers, board/committee members, and/or interns

Data Management and Administration

  • Maintains appropriate records in Raiser’s Edge regarding constituents
  • Leads and participates in the planning and goal setting for special events
  • Manages the budget for assigned projects/events
  • Generates and maintains appropriate financial records for each assigned event
  • Follow guidelines and accounting procedures for financial record keeping and budgeting
  • Track and document in-kind donations

What You’ll Need:

Experience

  • Demonstrated experiences leading both projects and teams in delivering outcomes and meeting financial goals
  • Excellent presentation and verbal and written communication skills are a must
  • Proven experience in cultivating and managing relationships
  • Experience working in Raiser’s Edge or a CRM
  • Proven experience in leading a team
