Overview:

ReStore, Atlanta Habitat’s home improvement outlet, is seeking an energetic cashier to support the sales operations of our retail store. Qualified candidates will have at least two years of cashier experience, have a “customer first” mindset, be willing to follow all store policies, and have the desire to work in a unique retail environment.

Atlanta Habitat offers part-time employees pro-rated paid time off, holiday pay, and a voluntary retirement savings plan with an employer match.  Position hours are Saturdays, 9:30 am – 6 pm. Starting compensation is $15/hours

Position Description: 

The mission of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is to partner with working families, sponsors, and communities to build affordable, green, quality homes and to provide support services that promote successful home purchase and ownership. The ReStore is Atlanta Habitat’s home improvement outlet, open to the public. The ReStore generates revenue through the sale of donated and reclaimed building materials and supplies. All proceeds support Atlanta Habitat’s mission. The ReStore Cashier supports Atlanta Habitat’s mission by serving as a point of contact for customers, representing Atlanta Habitat for Humanity as well as the ReStore.

The ReStore Cashier is directly responsible for:

  • Interacting positively with customers Assisting with the retail operation, especially operating the Point of Sale (POS) system and making sales
  • Providing superior customer service to customers
  • Following all store policies and procedures Supporting the ReStore in reaching annual goals

This position is part-time, 8 hours per week. Candidates may have the option to work occasional extra hours. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Our part-time employee benefits include Paid Time Off (PTO) leave and the opportunity to participant in a voluntary retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions.

Qualified Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

Education/Professional Credentials

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s Degree a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum two years of cashier experience.
  • Retail experience with construction or building materials/hardware preferred.

Skills

  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform heavy manual tasks, work standing or walking for a full workday, and be capable of performing occasional outside duties under all weather conditions.
  • Operate POS system with proficiency.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Able to coordinate volunteers with a wide range of skills and abilities.
  • Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet research ability. 
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
