Position:  Full-time; currently remote but will be in-person.

Salary:  $100,000-$110,000/year plus benefits

 

The Community in Action is hiring a Chief Executive Officer.

The CinA Chief Executive is responsible for effective and forward-looking administration, services, and advocacy. The CinA Chief Executive sets the tone of the organization, creating and sustaining an environment conducive to unity around the mission and strategic direction, forward momentum, collaboration, and diversity in representation and thinking. In addition, the Chief Executive integrates information from nonprofit trends, development and effectiveness into planning processes and deliberations. The territory covered includes Harney and Malheur Counties. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities of the CEO include:

Strategy and Business Development

  • With the Board and executive staff, develop ambitious and achievable short, mid and long-term goals and strategies.
  • Be in service to our clients leveraging partnerships with community, government and nonprofit partnerships.
  • Continuously assess and manage risks, threats and challenges to business development.
  • Engage in the statewide Community Action Organization as well as engaging staff in state, regional and national training and professional development.

Operations:

  • Serve as a business/financial leader that holds the perspective of budget as an outward expression of mission.
  • Develop and implement a budget that is realistic and reflective of the priorities of the organization.
  • Develop and implement revenue plans that are ambitious yet realistic and include a blend of diverse sources of revenue including grants, individual giving, social enterprise, and others.

Programs:

  • Ensure all programs align with the organizational mission and vision and are of the highest quality.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the Programs Teams.
  • Review reporting and evaluation metrics related to program implementation for on-going funding and to provide feedback for program improvements.

Staff:

  • Sustain a high level of staff performance and morale:
  • Provide frequent opportunities for input on plans and decisions, and for input on program resources.
  • Maximize opportunities for staff to engage in internal and external communications and teamwork.
  • Develop and implement professional development opportunities for staff.

Community:

  • Maximize community connections and engagement.
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships throughout the community to promote CinA programs and activities, to develop partnerships, and to ensure access to important information and emerging opportunities.
  • Serve as a community leader focused on engaging with the full diversity of our community including: 
    • Hearing the voices of community stakeholders.
    • Learning continuously from clients, community, staff and thought-leaders.
    • Demonstrating respect for the community we serve.

Board of Directors:

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop a strategic plan that is informed by input from staff, community, and partners.
  • Lead the board in developing a systems approach to diversity, equity and inclusion with the board, staff and community.
  • Build board engagement with expanded membership representing communities served as well as community partners and leaders.
  • Keep the board apprised of the operations, financial condition, and ongoing needs of the organization as it relates to programmatic work and the strategic plan.

Skills:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a nonprofit, social service program, community organization.
  • 5+ years of staff management
  • 3+ years working with a board of directors.
  • Experience with state managed social service programs
  • Financial skills including budgeting, grant reporting, dashboards and metrics
