ABOUT RESETTING THE TABLE

Resetting the Table (RTT) equips leaders and communities with tools and skills to address entrenched political divisions, transforming political disagreement into a source of strengthened relationship, creative problem-solving, and collective insight. In our early years, RTT focused primarily on polarization surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Today, we reach multi-faith clergy, Hollywood content creators, journalists, bridge-building practitioners, conservative and progressive activists, and Jewish professionals and lay leaders across the country. RTT has brought together more than 45,000 participants for courageous learning and dialogue across political divides. We have become a leading innovator and resource in the bridge-building field, and our method for building “healthy conflict” in communities and religious congregations is nationally recognized and highly sought after.

At RTT, we see the motivation, growth, and well-being of our team members as a critical ingredient to our success. Our mission-driven workplace culture is dedicated to excellence, authentic collegial care, and investment in the professional development of each team member.

THE OPPORTUNITY

RTT has just completed a strategic planning process and has charted a bold path forward for tackling the challenges that toxic polarization presents to our country and communities. As we work to embed healthy engagement across divides as a national and communal norm, we are seeking our first Chief Operations Officer. This position offers the opportunity to join RTT at an inflection point in its history and to work with a committed, passionate, talented team to build on the organization’s success and help propel it to new levels of accomplishment.

The COO will provide leadership and oversight for RTT’s day-to-day functions and team, working to develop and maintain an organizational infrastructure and culture that supports staff to do their best work. You will provide leadership and management of the human resources, financial resources, IT, and office administration of Resetting the Table, ensuring effective operations and cultivating a thriving, aligned culture of excellence as we grow.

Organizational Leadership (10%)

  • Manage the integration of RTT’s operations, programs, human resources, and financial resources to ensure alignment across workstreams and responsiveness to both internal and external needs
  • Identify and operationalize opportunities for organizational efficiency
  • Serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor to the Leadership Team, providing analysis, recommendations, and options for high-impact decisions
  • Oversee projects that do not neatly fit within the organizational chart or that fall between departments or leadership areas of responsibility

Operations, IT, and Finance (40%)

  • Maintain sound fiscal management; optimize finance and accounting practices and implement policies and procedures that model best practices
  • Supervise bookkeeping and financial administration, including review of monthly reconciliations and transactions, payments, and deposits
  • Work with CEO to provide financial reports to external stakeholders
  • Steer and oversee IT initiatives and upgrades, providing staff with the tools to effectively do their jobs and integrate across departments and functions
  • Partner as needed with external counsel for legal matters affecting the organization, including intellectual property, compliance, employment law, and contracts

HR, Talent Recruitment and Retention (40%)

  • Own the vision and accountability for Resetting the Table’s HR functions
  • Promote a thriving organizational culture and work environment that is welcoming, effective, motivating, caring, and committed to excellence, ensuring that organizational culture remains a top strength as we grow
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits, performance management, and retention to continue building RTT’s diverse, passionate, high-functioning team
  • Develop in-office and remote working policies that meet the needs of team members and position RTT to achieve its goals
  • Create mechanisms for staff and peer recognition and support
  • Facilitate and enhance professional development opportunities for staff members, including providing training, guidance, and learning opportunities for new supervisors to develop their management and leadership skills
  • Oversee contracts, partnership agreements, and consulting relationships
  • Think strategically about succession plans to leverage future growth of RTT and to ensure internal stability

Program (10%)

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to support organizational and programmatic consistency, quality, and sustainability
  • Effectively communicate priorities derived from the organization’s theory of change and strategic plan by partnering with senior leaders to develop coordinated accountabilities, objectives, and associated budgets
  • Collaborate with executive and program teams to build more efficient program structures and systems, including decision-making procedures, work-plan monitoring, and inter-program as well as inter-department communications and operations

QUALIFICATIONS

Note to Applicants: We encourage you to apply even if you do not feel that you meet 100% of the listed qualifications. If this job excites you and aligns with your values and aspirations, we strongly encourage you to apply. We look forward to your application.

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
  • 10+ years in operations management, including finance, talent, human resources, IT, and/or operations
  • Proven ability to lead and mobilize a team through high-growth periods in an organization’s trajectory

  • Ability to coordinate and manage across organizational functions and teams
