We are seeking an experienced leader and community-builder for the Executive Director role at Vintage House.   We are a community nonprofit that provides a wide range of programs to foster connection and enhance the quality of life for people aged 55+ living in Sonoma and the surrounding region.   With a strong base of 1,400 members and participants, Vintage House is seeking an Executive Director to grow community awareness, expand charitable giving, and extend the reach of our programs.  Sonoma is a sophisticated, rural community in the heart of wine country, just one hour north of San Francisco.   Compensation is $120,000-$140,000 depending on experience.

The Executive Director is an on-site position, requiring routine participation in daytime, evening and weekend meetings and events at Vintage House and in the local community. 

About Vintage House

Vintage House is a 39-year old, $1.2M nonprofit with the mission to support, preserve, and enhance the quality of life for residents of Sonoma Valley as they age.   Our programs foster well- being, connection, a sense of purpose and enjoyment through lifelong learning, personal growth opportunities and support. 

Our modern facility is in the heart of town near Sonoma Square, and includes meeting spaces, classrooms, a commercial kitchen and large banquet/meeting hall.    Vintage House does not provide residential or care-giving services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management:  Lead, coach and manage a staff ensure a high-performing team that to implements the strategic plan and creates engaging, well-run programs and operations.    Oversee marketing plans to increase membership and participation.   Develop and manage budget, and ensure accurate, timely reporting.  
  • Community Relations:  Represent Vintage House in the community, and foster awareness, suport and collaborative partnerships with city, community stakeholders, and other agencies serving seniors.    Ensure Vintage House programs are effectively promoted in the community.
  • Financial Development:    Create and implement strategy to increase giving through grants, events, individual giving, and major gifts.  Build and enhance relationships with current and potential funding sources, including the local philanthropic community.
  • Board of Directors:  Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure strong and effective partnership, including board recruitment, fundraising, development of financials, policy and strategy.   

Key Qualifications:

  1. Experience in nonprofit organization leadership, including Board of Directors and financial development.     Proven ability to work effectively in board/staff relationship.
  2. Experience successfully managing and leading staff, including ongoing coaching, delegation, support and communication with managers.
  3. Successful fundraising and financial development experience, including grant writing/ management, major gifts, individual giving, and events.  Proven ability to identify and cultivate donors.
  4. Strong business acumen and analytical skills; the ability to develop operating and business plans and achieve stated objectives in a dynamic environment.    Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets and financial reports.
  5. Outstanding presentation, writing, verbal and relationship-building skills; poise, gravitas, and the ability to lead through influence.  Creates consensus-based support for strategies and decisions.
  6. Tech savvy, with proficiency with MS Office and/or Google Suite.  Skill with membership and donor databases is preferred.
  7. Passion for the mission of Vintage House, and knowledge of the issues affective seniors in greater Sonoma.  Readiness to be on-site and represent Vintage House in the community on evenings and weekends.
