Georgia Trauma Foundation was created in 2013 to provide philanthropic support to the state’s trauma system. Through generous donations, we help healthcare professionals and other key partners achieve high standards of excellence in trauma care. Our goal is to lead the way in making all Georgia communities a place where traumatic injuries can be prevented, non-preventable injuries can be minimized, and the most severely injured patients can receive quality care at an appropriate facility.

Georgia Trauma Foundation is looking for a dynamic leader to take the organization to the next level. The new Executive Director will have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to spearhead the Foundation’s next phase of growth and impact.

Job Description:

Under the direction and guidance of a Board of Directors, The Executive Director (ED) is charged with overseeing all aspects of the Georgia Trauma Foundation. The ED is responsible for day-to-day operations and long-term success of the Foundation. The ED must possess/be able to develop deep knowledge about the field of trauma and possess an authentic desire to work collaboratively in support of the state’s trauma system.

The ED has a broad range of leadership responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Leadership

  • Working with the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission and the Foundation’s Board to determine the appropriate scale and scope of philanthropic investments to deliver trauma projects
  • Determining how to best achieve desired outcomes through programming, partnerships, and relationships with stakeholders
  • Guiding the Foundation’s programmatic efforts in support of the trauma community and the general public
  • Working with the Board of Directors to create a sustainable business model
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors, sponsors, partner organizations, individuals, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Delegating this relationship management when appropriate.

Operations and Fiscal Oversight

  • Assessing the organizational structure on a routine basis to ensure alignment with the Foundation’s strategic priorities, including staff capacity and growth plans
  • Managing the Foundation’s leadership team, comprised of staff, volunteer and contract workers
  • Supervising administrative functions, including recordkeeping, compliance, reporting and database management
  • Managing financial resources consistent with the annual budget
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the Foundation in partnership with the Board, including ensuring an annual financial audit

Fundraising

  • Ensuring a comprehensive development plan is created and implemented annually to address strategic fundraising goals
  • Participating in cultivation and solicitation visits with staff and Board
  • Engaging the Board in targeted and meaningful fundraising endeavors
  • Leveraging the Board’s expertise and connections to push the Foundation forward
  • Identifying and cultivating donors from key corporate, foundation and other prospective donor sectors

Board Relations/Development

  • Providing Board members with the information, tools and resources that will enable them to effectively govern and support the Foundation
  • Partnering with the Board of Directors in developing a strategic plan
  • Identifying and informing the Board of internal and external issues that affect the Foundation
  • Supporting the identification and recruitment of new Board members in alignment with the Foundation’s strategic priorities and needs
  • Overseeing Board development and training

Communications

  • Deepening and refining all aspects of communications – from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand with more community presence
  • Serving as the face of the organization with the ability to tell the Foundation’s story and ensure all programmatic activities are properly publicized
  • Using external presence at community meetings and events to garner new opportunities
  • Identifying and increasing the Foundation’s visibility and influence in important venues

Fulfilling other duties as assigned/required with the evolution of the Foundation.

The successful candidate will bring most of the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of ten years of senior level responsibility in nonprofit, corporate, or government
  • An inviting, collaborative leadership style
  • Proven track record in fundraising
  • Previous success working with a Board of Directors
  • Balance of strategic and management skills, including delegation
  • Public relations experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
  • First-rate communication skills, written and verbal, adaptable to a variety of settings
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff and manage teams
  • Deep appreciation for trauma care and the trauma care community
  • Passion for continuous improvement, both personal and organizational
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required; a master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and is an advantage.

This position reports to: Board of Directors

Salary: $70,000-$75,000

Location: This is a remote position; however, the Executive Director must attend meetings across the state and must reside in Georgia.
