ABOUT SAFE HARBOR CENTER
Located in the port city of Brunswick in the Golden Isles, Safe Harbor Center is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services that promote security and stability for at risk families, children, and individuals. Safe Harbor serves children, families, and individuals who have been abused, abandoned or neglected, who are homeless or have run away from home, or who are otherwise at risk or feel threatened. The mission is powered by seven unique programs: Safe Harbor Children’s Shelter, Zach’s Place: Runaway & Homeless Youth Emergency Shelter, STRIVE Transitional Living Program, Street Beat, Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center, the Connie Smith Rape Crisis Center, and Family Preservation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Donor Relations and Stewardship Manager is charged with the management of a comprehensive program to foster and nurture lasting relationships between Safe Harbor Center and its current and prospective donors, and to support stewardship at all giving levels. The manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Development to engage Safe Harbor donors and prospects more fully in the life of the organization, to build confidence that their gifts have impact, and to help strengthen their philanthropic support. In addition, the position is responsible for supporting efforts to maximizie the revenue potential of organizational special events through effective planning and execution. This position reports to the Director of Development and collaborates with internal teams, as well as external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration with the Director of Development, the Donor Relations and Stewardship Manager will:

Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Actively support organizational efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors
  • Enhance implementation of effective cultivation and solicitation strategies to improve retention, identify and invite donors to upgrade their support, and reengage lapsed donors
  • Establish and manage information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communications, and continued cultivation of existing and prospective donors to enhance their relationship with Safe Harbor Support implementation of a systematic and integrated donor relations program that encompasses donor recognition events, impact reports, and other projects as identified
  • Proactively support the stewardship responsibilities of the Director of Development and volunteer leadership by assisting them in establishing and coordinating individualized stewardship plans for existing and prospective donors
  • Conduct research to identify donor prospects, build donor/prospect profiles, and provide comprehensive briefings to Director of Development Research, draft, and edit accurate and compelling donor correspondence, communications pieces, and narrative reports, and generate innovative ideas and strategies to enhance stewardship programs
  • Track donor relations and stewardship activities within established database

Special Events and Peer-To-Peer Fundraising

  • Assist in the planning and execution of organizational fundraising special events that engage various audiences and builds key relationships with fundraising participants, supporters, and volunteers at all levels
  • Develop and maintain a master calendar of events and monitor progress status against calendar, timelines, and pre-determined benchmarks
  • Support Director of Development efforts to identify, solicit, and secure new and existing corporate sponsors for special events
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Peer-To-Peer fundraising participants by offering technical support and coaching to help them reach personal fundraising goals
  • Build successful relationships with families, event participants, corporations, and volunteers for the purposes of promoting Safe Harbor and facilitating opportunities for event engagement
  • Conduct presentations to various groups, including corporate employee groups, civic groups, churches, colleges, and universities, etc. for the purpose of engaging event participants
  • Prepare reports to share with Director of Development through analysis of event metrics Function as an on-site manager during all special events, overseeing activities, staff, vendors, and volunteers to ensure attendee satisfaction

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience with direct responsibility for generating development resources through annual fund, special events, sponsorship development, peer-to-peer fundraising, grants, and/or major gifts preferred
  • Experience building relationship with donors and volunteers at levels
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proven success in presenting ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively
  • Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities under tight deadlines with an outcome-oriented approach
  • Personable, professional, and confidential.
  • Must have a mature work attitude, be dependable and resourceful
  • Polished professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with all staff, volunteer leadership, organization clients, and external constituents
  • Commitment to accuracy, excellent attention to detail, highly efficient and conscientious about thorough follow-up
  • Ability to occasionally work non-standard work hours to aid in evening and/or weekend events, meetings, and/or assignments
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight and be a collaborator who will productively engage with others at varying levels within and outside of Safe Harbor 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical schedule is Monday-Friday; hours to be determined by supervisor. Occasionally called upon to work evenings and weekends.
