Job Details
Nursery Apprentice
Wylde Center, a local non-profit leading in environmental stewardship and education, is seeking 2 Nursery Apprentices for the 2022-2023 growing season.
Nursery Apprentices will be involved with all the tasks of our nursery and plant sale operations.
Activities will include, but are not limited to:
- Small-scale nursery work
- Plant propagation- seeding, uppotting, dividing, rooting cuttings, seed saving, etc.
- Light construction
- Recordkeeping
- Social Media/Marketing
- General Data Entry
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in Plant Sale operations, including nursery work and sales.
Requirements:
Availability:
- Any weekday(s) during regular business hours.
- Occasional evenings
- Occasional Saturday or Sunday mornings
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Have your own transportation
Punctuality, communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills are essential
Physical:
- Able to lift/move 50 lb
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
Duration/Hours/Compensation
The apprenticeship term will run in the fall from 7/11/22 - 12/9/22, and spring from 1/10/22 - 6/15/22. We take 4 weeks off in the winter and fall, as well as 1 week off during each season. Completion of a total of 420 hours is expected over 42 weeks of the program. There is a required commitment of 10 hours per week, though there may be flexibility in certain circumstances. This will be determined on an individual basis.

COVID Policy
Wylde Center Apprentices must disclose his/her/their vaccination status to Human Resources. If you are not vaccinated, you will be required to provide test results on a weekly basis. Regardless of vaccination status, all WC associates are required to wear a mask in all indoor spaces, including greenhouses.
Contract

Additionally, Wylde Center provides one of the largest youth environmental and science education programs in metro-Atlanta, including the Decatur Farm to School program, Atlanta Farm to School, Healthy Living by Healthy Growing at the Decatur Housing Authority, and science program and field trips linked to Common Core standards.
