JOB SUMMARY: To assist the pharmacist(s) in storing, preparing, dispensing, reconciling and charging of all medications. To assist the pharmacist(s) in maintaining an adequate and accurate drug inventory as well quality control procedures. Pharmacy Technicians shall work under the direct supervision of a licensed registered pharmacist, and will only perform activities that comply with the State Board of Pharmacy practices. Accurately prepares medication orders for dispensing by the pharmacist by retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, labeling and mixing medications. Enters patient and medication order information into the pharmacy system. Verifies prescription information and dosage. Processes and submits insurance claims. Processes new and refill prescriptions. Verifies the information on the prescription is complete and accurate. Assists patient and prescribers with the Prior Authorization process. Coordinates billing and obtains cost approval. Provides quality customer service to patients and other healthcare providers. Performs all tasks in a safe manner that is consistent with corporate policies as well as state and federal laws.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of how to seamlessly navigate Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs.)
- High level of dedication to patient care and improving patient medication access.
- A clear understanding of the ability to comply with the GA BOP Rules and Regulations.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Comfortable with addressing insurance rejections and prescription claims processing.
- Self-motivation and driven to succeed.
Requirements
- Licensed pharmacy technician in good standing with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
- At least 2-years of pharmacy technician experience.
- Exceptional oral communication, good telephone and written skills, and the ability to communicate appropriately pharmacy and Clinic staff.
- CPhT preferred.
License/Licensure
