The Prevention Specialist-Medication Adherence s responsible for implementing and evaluating the HEART medication adherence program. This position will improve medication adherence among persons currently in medical care for HIV disease at all PIHC Centers. The Prevention Specialist will provide on-site and offsite brief HIV pre/posttest counseling and rapid HIV testing in a confidential, one-on-one session with clients while maintaining the pre-counseling protocol. Assist clients with STI screening services. Some (not necessarily expert level) knowledge of HIV, prevention methods, and related STIs . Ensure a risk reduction prevention plan directed by the client is completed including, when appropriate, enrollment into PrEP services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferred or Associate's degree/Some College, preferred with professional HIV experience in the healthcare industry
  • Previous HIV Testing experience preferred
  • 3-4 years Prior peer support/group support experience is required and/or 1-3 intervention experience
  • Strong personal skills, communication skills and writing ability
  • Fluency in Spanish, preferred
  • Local Travel Required-Reliable transportation and willing to use for work related activities
  • Ability to rotate weekend and evening hours are required for position
  • Attention to detail
  • Adaptability and ability to prioritize tasks and maintain standards in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service skills and ability to empathize
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-starter
