The Program Coordinator will facilitate support groups, assist with coordinating program events, and interact with staff, volunteers and members. This position works closely with the Program Director, Executive Director and others to provide programmatic consultation as it relates to people impacted by cancer.  Eligible candidates will have a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.
The Program Coordinator is expected to maintain licensure in the state of Georgia as a mental health professional, to keep up to date on psychosocial oncology practice and research issues. The Program Coordinator must embody the highest professional standards and demonstrate warmth and compassion as he/she works with members, staff, volunteers, and others in building and maintaining a sense of community. For this part time position, Cancer Support Community Atlanta offers flexible work hours in a safe and supportive environment.

The Program Coordinator will report to the Program Director and Executive Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct/facilitate groups in person and virtually according to the Cancer Support Community standards Work with Program Director to help market programs to appropriate audiences
  • Must possess strong clinical skills, including individual and support group experience and ability to work with issues surrounding chronic and life-threatening illness.
  • Utilize strong administrative skills, including planning, organizing, and scheduling
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  •  Work as a team member in a supportive community.
  • Support various facets of activities - setup, participant comfort, and evaluation.
  • Ability to hear and speak to communicate clearly in person, over the phone and online
  • Promote a strong sense of belonging with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Motivated self-starter with integrity who is committed to service and excellence
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds
