Location: Atlanta and some remote work -  hybrid working environment

Salary: $90,000-$150,000 based on qualifications, plus a competitive benefits package

Job Description (Summary) 

The Major Gift Officer will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors, in expanding their financial support of the work of the Westside Future Fund. He/she will be responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization and assist donors in creating meaning in their lives through support of Westside Future Fund. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts prospects; recommend and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies of individual prospects, working with staff and volunteers as appropriate; meet with prospects and volunteers virtually, with travel as permitted and necessary. 
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 prospects through the fundraising cycle of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. 
  • Work with the Chief Development Officer to outline annual and incremental quantitative fundraising goals and align activity to meet or exceed these goals. 
  • Commit to weekly and monthly donor contacts and proposals in pursuit of annual departmental goal. 
  • Steward current donors and provide outstanding customer service, proposing renewals and upgrades for annual gifts as appropriate. 
  • Develop and execute ongoing strategies for qualifying suspects and elevating them to prospect status via small cultivation events, research, and community networking; 30% of the portfolio is expected to have been sourced by the MGO. 
  • Create compelling, unique proposals for donors to upgrade their giving or invest for the first time. 
  • Design and disseminate customized solicitation strategies targeting organizational objectives and donor interests in partnership with cross-departmental teams; maintain up-to-date donor records in database following donor contact. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 5-7 years of major gifts leadership experience. 
  • Experience in the development and implementation of a broad based fundraising program including personally opening doors, cultivating, and successfully closing major gifts at the $10,000 level and above. 
  • Grant writing and project management experience a plus. 
  • Progressive experience in successful development programs and knowledge of “best practices” in development.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required
