ROLE SUMMARY 

The PAI Communications team needs a part time [20 hours/week)] contract length [roughly 5 months] Communications manager experienced in developing and executing on communications plans for various audiences, and overseeing social media and virtual event production. This work will be overseen by the Director of Content and Communications.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Execute on existing Communications plans, develop and execute new plans, and oversee the timeline for all PAI outputs, social media, and events
  • Provide interim management support to the Communication & Events Coordinator and Digital Communications Coordinator on the Communications team
  • Review the weekly content calendar maintained by the Digital Communications Coordinator for PAI’s and CEO’s social channels and collaborate on social campaigns (including any paid ads) for major PAI publications
  • Plan PAI brand events (PAI Partner Orientations, public events affiliated with publication launches), design the agenda in collaboration with PAI colleagues,  and writing/editing/coordinating all event communications (email invites, event recaps, event page copy). 
  • Oversee pitching of external events
  • Occasional writing of announcement blogs and other external communications to Partners 
  • With support from the Digital Communications Coordinator, oversee development and copywriting for PAI’s monthly newsletter
  • Coordinate announcements with implicated Partners and supply social media toolkits 
  • Attend weekly meetings with Program teams and serve as point of contact between the Communications team and other internal teams
  • Oversee the editorial calendar maintained by the Communications and Event Coordinator 
  • Support materials developed for PR purposes and provide input on direction of earned media opportunities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to navigate a small yet complex institution
  • Experience working remotely with a number of colleagues
  • Proven record of development of communications plans and execution for various audiences
  • Experience in multistakeholder organizations
  • Background/experience in science or technology communications a plus

WHO YOU ARE / WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

  • At least 5 years of in house or agency communications experience
  • Experience creating and executing on a diverse set of communications plans across platforms and outputs
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a fully remote organization and utilize Asana, Slack and GSuite products as tools
