Drive Electric Florida (DEFL) is seeking an Executive Director to work in coordination with the DEFL Board of Directors and Membership. Drive Electric Florida (DEFL) is a nonprofit organization that works to accelerate Florida’s transition to electric transportation through collaboration among a diverse set of stakeholders. Members include utilities, local and state government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and the electric vehicle (EV) industry at large. Florida is currently the second largest EV market in the United States. The role of Executive Director will be to help shape and grow transportation electrification in the state. Our work promotes increased EV adoption and infrastructure development across Florida through education, outreach, and policy guidance. We are seeking an Executive Director that can act as the face of DEFL and manage all operations for the organization and stakeholder communications. The Executive Director (ED) will serve as an independent contractor, reporting to the DEFL Board of Directors.

The Executive Director (ED) will work to effectively manage implementation of DEFL’s strategic plan and projects, in coordination with the DEFL Board. The ED will be responsible for the management of all phases of program planning and execution of the organization’s initiatives in Florida, including but not limited to electric vehicle charging infrastructure, outreach and education, and policy development and advocacy The ED will also be responsible for expanding the membership and identifying new sources of revenue for the organization. The ED would be responsible for managing all contractors and any future staff for the organization.  Finally, the ED will facilitate strategic planning and the development of legislative and regulatory policy among its diverse set of stakeholders. Responsibilities will include: Programmatic Planning, Membership, Board Management, Policy, Strategic Planning, and External Funding.

Required qualifications include: A passion for DEFL’s mission and values; Bachelor’s degree and at least five to seven years of experience in transportation, energy, or related field; Demonstrated strength in project and program management including the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities; Demonstrated fundraising and development experience; Ability to represent and build DEFL’s brand as a leader in transportation electrification; Excellent cross-cultural communications skills, both written and verbal; Strong writing, critical thinking, digital communication, and public speaking skills; Demonstrated success organizing events; Experience working with decision-makers; Supervisory and/or contractor management experience; Experience working with a non-profit with a mission-driven staff and board; Well-organized and have the ability to work both independently and as a team player; Willingness and ability to travel; and, a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in related field and one to three years of electric vehicle transportation and/or nonprofit management experience.
