Kate’s Club is a non-profit supporting children, teens, and young adults facing life after the death of a parent, sibling, or caregiver.Founded in 2003, Kate’s Club envisions a world in which it’s okay to grieve. We build healing communities through recreational and therapeutic group programs, education and advocacy. We serve children, their families, and young adults through programming at our Clubhouse located in Brookhaven, GA, in school-based groups throughout metro Atlanta, and our new online platform, Kate’s Hub. Kate’s Club is seeking a full-time State Outreach Manager to plan and provide our programs and services throughout the state of Georgia.

Position Summary

The State Outreach Manager will report directly to the Director of Programs & Partnerships and will play an integral role in advancing the organization’s efforts to reach the more than 200,000 children and teens, and more than 300,000 young adults, in Georgia facing life after the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. 

This position requires availability on some evenings and weekends, as well as travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duty: Continue growth of Kate’s Club in metro Atlanta and establish Kate’s Club in four new regions by end of Q2 2023

  • Conduct regional and county Needs and Readiness Assessments to help determine sustainable expansion plans both within metro Atlanta and throughout Georgia
  • Manage and support a team of three to five regional program coordinators 
  • Work in conjunction with Director of Programs & Partnerships, Director of Development & Marketing, and Executive Director on cultivation of strategic partnerships throughout the state Identify potential community contacts (e.g., school districts, healthcare systems, faith organizations, corporations, foundations, community service boards, families, etc.)
  • Introduce Kate’s Club to potential partners and develop relationships
  • Work with Director of Programs & Partnerships to provide professional trainings on a variety of topics related to childhood bereavement
  • Work with Marketing & Communications Associate to increase awareness of Kate’s Club throughout the state of Georgia 
  • Write, design, and send email Community Partner newsletters using Constant Contact
  • Write social media posts related to program outreach
  • Grow and maintain an outreach contact database
  • Write articles and reports for annual reports, grant applications, etc.

Duty: Track and report the progress of regional expansion efforts

  • Advise Director of Programs & Partnerships regularly on work assignments, staff issues, opportunities, and progress toward expansion goals
  • Prepare monthly reports on outreach efforts and findings
  • Support grants administrator in preparation of monthly activity and expense reports
  • Work with the Data and Outcomes Manager to assess program effectiveness and offer informed input for program needs
  • Work with Director of Programs & Partnerships and Executive Director to establish and achieve goals and outcomes during an agreed-upon timeframe, including but not limited to number of community connections; school partners, groups and participants; professional training events and professionals trained; workshops for parents and caregivers and parents/caregivers educated; individuals served.

Duty: Provide general supervision and strategic leadership to the regional program and outreach coordinators

  • Work with Director of Programs & Partnerships and Executive Director to recruit highly skilled staff who are committed to the organization’s mission and success
  • Train and educate new hires on Kate’s Club pedagogy, curriculum, outcome and impact measures, etc.
  • Encourage and support professional development of staff through internal training and guidance for external training opportunities
  • Support regional program and outreach coordinators in developing and implementing programmatic events (family programs, activities for children, groups for parents, etc.) for children and families in their regions
  • Direct work of regional program coordinators to meet all operational and programmatic needs of the region and provide general supervision and guidance

Qualifications and Skills

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a human or social services field; Master’s degree preferred

 Experience: 

  • Minimum three (3) years professional experience working in a social service or mental health-related field, particularly working with grief issues
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role Experience building and managing an effective, committed staff
  • A familiarity with Metro Atlanta and statewide social services sectors

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • An understanding of bereavement and a passion for the Kate’s Club mission
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills effectively demonstrating the ability to form mutually respectful, trusting, and effective relationships within a diverse group
  • Aptitude for data management, including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite, case management software, and data management principles
  • Ability to demonstrate presence, self-confidence, good judgment, and effectively listen to others
  • High degree of accountability, responsibility, and professional integrity
  • Team philosophy with demonstrated success as a team builder who can contribute to a positive and effective work environment

Other Requirements:

  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Willing to travel throughout the state with occasional overnight stays and work flexible hours that may include up to 2 weekend days per month and 4 evenings per month

Salary and Benefits

This position is full-time and exempt. Salary range is $58,000-$60,000. Paid vacation, health benefits, and professional development opportunities are provided.
