Childspring International is a global nonprofit based in Atlanta, GA that provides life-changing surgeries for children from developing countries and as a result transforms communities. In 2019, Childspring provided 694 surgeries and in 2021, even during the pandemic, supported another 339 pediatric surgeries in countries around the world including Haiti, Colombia, El Salvador, Honduras, India, and Sierra Leone, among others, and has worked in 50 countries since its inception. The Program Coordinator will aid the Program Director in supporting children and their families through complex medical surgeries worldwide.

The Program Coordinator:

  • Engages children, families, communities, and stakeholders across areas of cultural and linguistic difference to build relationships of mutual trust and respect
  • Supports the assessment of children’s social, environmental, medical, and psychosocial wellbeing in the context of a medical surgery, and explores avenues for intervention with the support of the program team
  • Accompanies children, families, host families, and others through the process of receiving treatment
  • Evaluates and tracks progress toward mutually agreed upon goals and desired outcomes

The primary responsibility of the Program Coordinator is managing a caseload of children with treatable medical conditions within the following specialties: cardiology, plastics, ophthalmology, ENT, and orthopedics. In addition, the Program Coordinator maintains relationships with Childspring’s international partners and points of contact. The Program Coordinator also handles surgery payments, tracks data and progress, arranges child transportation and logistics, engages with our medical committee, and directly supports host families in the United States. The Program Coordinator will also engage in administrative and strategic work within the Program Department, which can include a wide-ranging set of tasks that include needs assessment, program development, and program evaluation. The Program Coordinator meets regularly in supervision with the Program Director.
