Service Extension Representative

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Service Extension Representative for the South Georgia Region.

Job Summary

Travels to Service Centers and Service Units as assigned in Georgia; recruits and trains Advisory Organization Members; plans, coordinates, supervises and evaluates all fund raising efforts and activities in each unit in order to reach fund raising goals; develop, organize, and coordinate program coordinate program goals and objectives; conducts annual audits of each unit/center services; conducts regular visits of each unit; performs public speaking for community service groups, churches, etc., and works to build effective working relationships with the community leaders; supervises Service Center Directors assigned and provides support to programs and activities within Service Extension Department; acts as SC Director in the absence of a Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the needs of the community serviced; Knowledge of effective volunteer recruitment, recognition and retainment; Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and budgeting principles Ability to build effective working relationships with community leaders; Ability to perform public speaking and perform various public relations functions in order to project a favorable image of The Salvation Army; Ability to recruit, lead and supervise the work and/or resources of volunteers; Ability to ensure the service unit/center operations are in compliance with established Salvation Army policy; Ability to ensure the Service center facility is properly maintained and secured;Ability to travel; Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E. D. And Five (5) years’ experience providing leadership in a community service environment, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Licenses and Certifications
Valid State Driver’s License

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements; Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like. Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
