Job Details

Oversee and implement the major events and programming efforts for the 6th largest Home Builders Association (HBA) in the country and the largest in Georgia. Responsible for the coordinating and administering of the HBA's major annual events such as golf tournaments and awards galas. This position is also responsible for providing staff support to the Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) and the Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) in addition to other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Officer.


  • Ideal candidate will be relationship driven and enjoy working with volunteers and staff in a collaborative environment.
  • Bachelors' degree required.
  • Knowledge of financial statements and ability to manage a budget required.
  • Strong customer service focus with the ability to function effectively both independently and as a part of a team.
  • Three to five years of experience in event planning with a strong understanding of effective use of social media and digital marketing preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, motivate, and support volunteers and committees.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the GAHBA's goals, mission and vision, as well as the activities developed to achieve those goals. 
  • Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple and competing projects.
  • Prior experience in a nonprofit setting a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the coordination and implementation of all GAHBA wide events to include but not be limited to the annual OBIE Awards Gala, two (2) golf tournaments, the Installation and Awards Banquet, the SMC Silent Auction, and the annual Builder Bash.
  • Responsible for strategic planning and contract negotiations as it relates to the development and implementation of programs and events.
  • Responsible for securing venues, vendors, and communicating with sponsors to ensure successful and profitable events.
  • Responsible for managing the expenses and reporting to the Executive Officer the revenue and expenses for the events and achieving their targeted net revenue goal.
  • Serve as staff liaison to PWB and SMC councils to the GAHBA.
  • Oversee the successful design, implementation, and execution of the annual OBIE Awards Program and Gala.
  • Research best practices from other HBAs and membership associations for ideas to implement at GAHBA.
