The right candidate will have a strong commitment to seeing students in grades 6 through 12 discover, deepen, and persist in their Christian faith. He or she needs to be deeply relational, a strong organizer, able to recruit and train adult volunteers, and willing to delegate responsibilities in appropriate ways. This person needs a thorough understanding of Wesleyan theological foundations, and an excitement about getting outside the church building to engage with students on their own turf and get to know them beyond the formal programmatic parts of the position. Our next team member will be able to work well as part of a group, contribute ideas meaningfully, receive appropriate feedback, and be a self-starter who can still receive instruction from the senior pastor. Ability to develop and manage a budget, and communicate effectively in both written and spoken word are required. Ideal candidate will see the connectedness of this role to the overall health and life of the congregation. There is room to grow in ministry in this position.
Acceptable performance of responsibilities will require resident in the area.
This is MINISTRY position. Other ministry responsibilities will be assigned to this team member. The exact nature of the responsibilities may be a matter of negotiation, but ultimately will be affixed by the Senior Pastor and/or personnel committee. Anniston First United Methodist Church is a downtown church that has ministries with the homeless community as well as the local college and music programs. We are committed to love, justice, and acceptance.
