Kidz2Leaders (K2L) is a nonprofit ministry that exists to break the cycle of incarceration by providing stability, opportunity, and a Christian community for children of inmates and their families. We help them rise above their circumstances, teach them to become leaders, and provide a life of hope through Christ-centered programming in a loving environment. The entry point into our decade-long program continuum is Camp Hope, an annual, six-day overnight camp that begins at age eight. The program continuum expands to include leadership development, career and life skills training, higher education scholarships, individual mentoring, an alumni community, and family support services.

The Student Support Manager is responsible for the mentoring/discipleship of K2L participants ages 8-15. This team member serves as a Christian leader and role model for these students, helping them to grow in their faith, develop a Biblical worldview, and pursue God's plans for their lives. The Student Support Manager will work closely with the Family/Parent Support Manager to identify and meet critical needs (physical, emotional, spiritual) within the most at-risk families being served by K2L.

Program Responsibilities:

  • Provide meaningful individual support to our most at-risk youth. Time will be spent in one-on-one discipleship with those in critical need who desire help. This will involve talking on the phone, texting, or having a meal while discussing challenges, learning about their needs, helping brainstorm solutions, and providing tools and resources. More importantly, they will be praying with and for them, studying God’s Word together, and helping them grow their faith in Christ. This will involve communication and relationship-building with parents/guardians in addition to children.
  • Create and implement opportunities for volunteers to support discipleship efforts. This may include facilitating one-on-one volunteer mentor relationships, identifying small group leaders to meet regularly with students, creating prayer partnerships, organizing social outings, etc.
  • Facilitate age-appropriate opportunities for service. Kidz2Leaders desires to better engage our youth in local missions opportunities that will promote life-long Biblical servant leadership.
  • Connect students and families to local church congregations where they will be supported and where they can serve the Body of Christ. The majority of the families we serve are not church members and do not regularly attend. As a parachurch ministry, we do not want to minimize or replace the critical role of the local church. The Student Support Manager will work with the Family Support Manager to identify Biblical churches throughout metro-Atlanta, and they will provide guidance and encouragement to youth and their parents as they seek to become involved in a church.
  • Identify high-quality community resources in Metro-Atlanta and connect families according to need. Kidz2Leaders serves at-risk youth in more than 15 counties. In addition to identifying great churches, the Student Support Manager will also seek out resources for financial assistance, education support, housing, food stability, scholarships, etc. in the counties where our youth reside. The SSM will work closely with the Family/Parent Support Manager to identify and meet critical needs within the families we serve.

Administrative responsibilities:

  • Track data relevant to programs as needed for internal records and reports to stakeholders.
  • Maintain information on participants in the K2L database.
  • Ensure program policies are followed and updated as needed.
  • Manage budget for program activities.
  • Support other K2L initiatives as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer management – training and supervision.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong alignment with K2L Statement of Faith/Guiding Principles and a demonstrated commitment to a personal relationship with Christ.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in a nonprofit/church/ministry setting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Availability for some evening and weekend work to meet with students and attend all K2L programs, including all Camp Hope sessions (two to three weeks in summer).
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Company

Kidz2Leaders exists to break the cycle of incarceration by providing stability, opportunity and a Christian community for children of inmates. We accomplish this by helping them rise above their circumstances, empowering them to become leaders, and providing a life of hope through intentional, faith-based programming in a loving environment.

Our 10-year program continuum is designed to cultivate long-term, supportive relationships, beginning with children at age eight and serving them and their families through young adulthood. We believe it is only through this long-term commitment that can we truly end generational incarceration. Young adults who complete our decade of programming are on a trajectory toward living their lives free from incarceration and contributing positively to their communities.
