NPower is a national nonprofit, rooted in community, committed to advancing race and gender equity in the tech industry. In 2021, NPower launched Command Shift, a national consortium of women and allies that advocate for strategies that invest in and inspire the advancement of young women of color in tech careers. Command Shift is committed to achieving 10% women of color in tech in 10 years by advocating and guiding corporations to expand their recruitment strategies. 

NPower’s Coalition Development Manager will be responsible for fundraising and the growth and engagement of the Command Shift Coalition. Reporting to NPower’s Coalition Development Director, the Coalition Development Manager will maintain both new and existing strategic relationships, lead Coalition events and position themselves with key NPower influencers to gather intelligence, influence direction, and leverage partnerships resulting in resources and relationships to achieve the Command Shift Goal.

The ideal candidate is a talented development professional who has a proven track record of fundraising success, has strong communication and presentation skills, an entrepreneurial spirit and a keen eye for details. This candidate is committed to the Command Shift mission, can develop strong relationships, engage volunteers, and be part of a dynamic organization focused on re-wiring the tech industry and launching digital careers for veterans and young adults from underserved communities..

Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Manage grant funding cycle, including grant proposals, grant reports, and budget management.
  • Support the Coalition goal to raise $2 million in revenues annually
  • Manage relationships and stewardship of Command Shift donors and strategic partners.
  • Identify and cultivate corporate, foundation and individual donors with the support of NPower’s Coalition Development Director.
  • Develop, oversee and implement fundraising, donor recognition and member events.
  • Oversee the administration of Salesforce, as a funder/donor management tool to ensure proper gift processing, acknowledgements, and updated prospecting information.
  • Craft reports, correspondence, publications, and briefing materials in partnership with marketing team.

Command Shift Coalition

  • Support Command Shift Coalition activities which includes :
  • Leading select Command Shift sub-committee meetings
  • Managing Command Shift Alumni Cohort
  • Managing Command Shift events, including Executive Roundtables and volunteer activations.
  • Work closely with marketing team to develop and amplify national communications and thought-leadership campaigns to raise the profile of Command Shift and successful women of color in tech professions, amplify examples of best practices demonstrated in industry and through tech training organizations, and showcase the practical work and research of Command Shift.
  • Represent NPower at women centric, diversity, equity and inclusion and tech events.
  • Support Command Shift convenings with nonprofit, corporate, and foundation leaders, as well as Work closely with the marketing team to amplify communications and thought-leadership campaign to raise the profile of successful women of color in tech professions and share examples of best practices demonstrated in industry as well as showcase the research of Command Shift.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in fundraising, account management, sales, and/or business development
  • Experience with or demonstrated knowledge of workforce development and/or equity and inclusion community and funders.
  • Strong organization, project management, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail and follow through.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of donors and build relationships corporations, foundations and high net worth individuals.
  • Knowledge and experience using CRM systems. Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Self-starter and ability to work autonomously without supervision.
  • Ability to work as a team player with virtual linkages.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and sense of urgency.
  • Experience engaging executive leaders and volunteers.
