        Job Description

 

Learning Community Coordinator
15-20 hrs. a week

 

The Learning Community Coordinator reports to the Senior Minister for supervision and annual reviews; in coordination with the LC superintendent, volunteers, and Senior Minister the Learning Community Coordinator will…

 

 

 

  •  Recruit for and staff all Learning Community rooms/grades (nursery to 12th grade) Find substitutes when required
  • Oversee & supervise church school programs on Sunday mornings Oversee transition of children from sanctuary to education area Maintain classroom set-up (including checking supplies, lesson materials, etc.) Maintain attendance books Ensure proper dismissal of children to parents at the conclusion of church school Oversee staffing and payment of nursery staff Order and secure materials and supplies for all levels (including Our Whole Lives curriculum) Work with OWL facilitators in planning the OWL program. (Some of the OWL sessions happen outside of Sunday morning and may happen in collaboration with other churches) Keep allergy lists current (via notes in the attendance books) Maintain the Learning Community as an Open and Affirming space in keeping with our church’s covenant and practice of justice and inclusivity. Be a liaison between teachers & minister and between teachers & parents, including helping with any behavioral issues or concerns Provide teacher training for all ages and all program/curriculum selections Confirm that Safe Space guidelines are being followed in all Learning Community  programs, in cooperation with staff &  Learning Community volunteers Secure volunteer application forms when necessary Notify ministers and guardians of any accidents, injuries, or concerns that arise during Learning Community or any pastoral care concerns related to families. Run background checks on anyone involved with our youth (run new ones every three years) Facilitate or co-facilitate Learning Community-sponsored events such as Youth Events, service days, or other events happening in the church or the community that the Learning Community might participate in. Support and collaborate with (RYSC) when they are having an event that our youth might be able to participate in.  RYSC stands for Rural Youth Support Coalition. Support, understand and implement all aspects of curriculum used in our programs Stay current on all curriculum developments Attend weekly staff meetings as well as additional meetings as necessary Be responsible for worship-related items such as Children’s bulletins, worship bags, etc. Collaborate with Senior Minister in planning “Family Sundays.” and innovating creative ways of making Sunday morning a supportive, welcoming, and enriching time for families, children, and youth.
