The SF Marin Food Bank is comprised of a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff working collaboratively to provide close to 50 million pounds of food to over 210,000 people in the Bay Area – a region where 1 in 4 people are at risk of hunger. We are currently looking for a Community Support Coordinator to help provide support and leadership to the operation of multiple food pantries during the current shelter in place mandate. POSITION PURPOSE

The Community Support Administrative Coordinator (CSC) provides administrative and onsite support to the Food Bank’s Pop-Up program, which operates multiple walk-up and drive-thru pantries in San Francisco and Marin counties. This coordinator supports the large team of supervisors, site coordinators, and associates to ensure that the program has everything it needs to run successful 20+ food distributions each week. This position reports to the Pop-up Program Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Responsible for in-person coordination of popup or drive-thru food pantries including but not limited to set-up, deliveries, operation, clean-up, and participant check-in.
  • Responsible for overseeing pantry crew of volunteers and temporary workers regarding the operation of the food pantry, which includes set-up, deliveries, operation, and clean-up.
  • Manages, trains, and supervises crew to ensure adherence to existing guidelines and protocols.
  • Works with crew to ensure proper set-up of the pantry including, but not limited to: unloading, moving, bagging, distributing, and storing food appropriately; cleanliness and physical appearance of service areas, cleaning up afterwards better than before we arrived. Assigns crew tasks as needed.
  • Ensures social distancing and other public health best practices among staff, volunteers, and participants to minimize the spread of contagions.
  • Ensures pantries are a friendly and positive experience for everyone, creating a welcoming and respectful atmosphere.
  • Provides daily reporting to Food Bank Supervisors and Manager with data related to popup attendance, enrollment, and other details as requested.
  • Attends regularly scheduled team meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 18 yrs. of age.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead individuals and teams. Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to multi-task.
  • Follows all agency policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including: emergency, confidentiality, safety and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and enforce critical rules.
  • Solid understanding of food safety and public health guidelines to avoid the spread of food borne illnesses and other pathogens. Safe food handling certification preferred.
  • Ability to interact with staff, community members and program participants in a professional and polite manner even when people are upset and disrespectful.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Ability to listen, analyze, and communicate. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.) including advanced Excel and Word formatting skills and experience working with databases and data on multiple programs
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently and as part of a team
  • Must have ready access to reliable transportation as work sites vary day-to-day
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Ability to work outdoors continuously in all kinds of weather.
  • Cantonese or Spanish language fluency preferred.
  • Must work on Saturdays

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

ENVIRONMENT: Standard office; event coordination is performed at different sites, some with multiple distributions, throughout San Francisco, based in schools, closed streets, and recreation centers. Staff is required to work outside in inclement weather when necessary.

FINGER DEXTERITY: Requires typing on standard computer.

TALKING: Ability to speak on phone and face to face.

HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

REPETITIVE MOTIONS: Frequent and regular movements using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view computer screens and documents.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Ability to lift 35 pounds on a repetitive basis

COMMUNICATION AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of complex intellectual and practical problems.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform advanced math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Fluency in English. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing. Cantonese or Spanish language fluency preferred.

SALARY: Grade 4 $52,349.75 to $69,800.01
