Job Title: Membership Recruiter (Area Executive)

Reports To: Regional Executive

Status: Exempt/Full- time

Location: Metro Atlanta & Surrounding Counties

Salary: $38K/Annually

JOB SUMMARY

The primary duty of the Membership Recruiter (Area Executive) is to recruit girls and adults to sign up as members and pay membership dues within a defined geographic sales territory in the Council’s 34-county geography to meet membership recruitment goals. The Membership Recruiter will use his/her network and sales and marketing expertise to strategically identify prospects, make effective presentations and utilize creative ways to increase the girl and adult membership of the Council. The Membership Recruiter role is the dedicated sales force role within the organization. It is expected that the Membership Recruiter will spend 90% or more of his/her time in the field meeting with potential members and or setting up such meetings. This role requires the ability to support Metro Atlanta, and Supporting Counties, and work flexible hours including some evenings & weekends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Call on public and private schools, community centers, rec centers, youth program sites, houses of worship, and other community locations within assigned territory and inform parents, families, principals, teachers, PTAs, center directors, faith leaders, and others and promote the features and benefits of Girl Scouting.
  • As part of the member recruitment efforts, facilitate opportunities for girls and adults to join Girl Scouts as a member by assisting in formation of new troops, recruiting adults to serve as troop leaders, and directing girls and adults to opportunities to join existing troops.
  • Develop leads of potential new members.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and sales strategies including a partnership selling style that leverages Girl Scout volunteers such as troop organizers and registrars to assist in recruitment at all available sites within assigned geographic territory.
  • Consistently use all available promotional literature to ensure consistent brand messaging and communication of value proposition in recruitment activities across the Council’s 34-county geography.
  • Utilize all approved selling techniques and tools (including excel based reports, market share report, etc.) during sales calls as assigned.
  • Collect payments of membership dues at the time the member signs up.
  • Keep management informed by submitting regular sales and recruitment activity and results reports, such as weekly work plans and recruiting results and monthly and annual territory analysis.
  • Build professional networks by developing positive relationships with community leaders, organizations, and businesses to increase awareness of benefits of Girl Scouting to positively grow membership.
  • Research market data, membership trends, and other pertinent information relevant to designated geographic areas to positively impact recruitment success.
  • Partner with Membership Development Specialists to deliver qualified leads for conversion to membership.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate membership recruitment campaigns for summer camp programs in partnership with Outdoor Programs and Marketing.
  • Accurately use and record sales data in Salesforce or similar Customer Relationship Management software.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of sales experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to record, maintain and communicate accurate data
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint knowledge
  • Positive, self-motivated professional
  • Ability to work well with a team and independently
  • Accepts and promotes the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Prior experience and/or knowledge of outside sales, marketing and/or community relations
  • Previous sales territory management experience
  • Project management
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Salesforce knowledge
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout organization

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Willingness or ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends
  • Ability to travel within a defined geographic sales territory 90% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

Must successfully complete a criminal, national sex offender search, and motor vehicle background check.
