Job Summary 

The Individual Giving Manager for Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta reports directly to the Director of Donor Relations and plays an integral role in the Council’s comprehensive stewardship-focused donor relations program. The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors and will create and implement a comprehensive plan to attract new individual donors and retain existing donors, while increasing their level of support for and engagement with the Council. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Embraces a relationship-focused approach to Major Gifts fundraising as part of the Council’s overall fundraising plan. 

2. Coordinates the Second Century Circle recognition society for individual donors of $1,000+ and 1912 Society recognizing individual donors of $5,000+. 

3. Manages the individual donor fundraising process by engaging those prospects and donors capable of making gifts of $1,000+ in the Council’s work and mission. 

  • Works closely with the Development Operations Manager on prospect research process to assure high quality prospects for qualification. 
  • Identifies and qualifies prospective supporters capable of making gifts of $1,000+. 
  • Cultivates current and prospective Major Gifts donors to both understand their motivation for supporting the Girl Scouts and provide them opportunities to direct funding to the programs that best meet their priorities. 
  • Provides high-level, personalized stewardship to all Major Gift donors, including gift acknowledgments, recognition, and support. 

4. Maintains a portfolio of 200 major gifts prospects and donors and engages with them 10-12 times annually. 

5. Provides leadership for major gifts solicitation visits, either through direct participation or by preparing and briefing the staff and volunteer assigned to the prospect. 

6. Supports the Fund Development team in identifying current donors to move to the Juliette Gordon Low Society, which recognizes those who include the Council in their estate gifts.  

7. Writes and/or edits proposals and presentations for major donors. 

8. Updates donor records in a timely manner to document activity, information, and proposed next steps that can be leveraged to engage prospects in a manner that reflects their priorities and interests. 

9. Tracks relationship-focused activity with prospects and donors and provides timely updates to the Development Operations Manager to show progress towards goals. 

10. Uses data to determine which strategies and activities are most successful in engaging Major Gifts donors and growing their support. 

11. Supports all Fund Development activities, including special events, as part of a comprehensive stewardship program. 

12. Works collaboratively with program staff to better align the needs of both the Council with donors’ priorities. 

Skills & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (nonprofit management, marketing, business, journalism, etc.) 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management role with focus on Individual and Major Gifts. 
  • Ability to solve problems and to think strategically and tactically about opportunities to engaged donors, balance competing priorities, and work collaboratively with colleagues 
  • Ability to write in a creative, descriptive, technical or factual manner. 
  • Strong public speaking skills. 
  • Experience with managing budgets. 
  • Capable of managing multiple projects at once in a deadline-driven environment; organized and focused on follow-through. 
  • Self-starter with a “can-do” work ethic; a true go-getter. 
  • Manages up with ease. 
  • Highly professional demeanor, able to work successfully with and respect the confidentiality of information pertaining to a wide variety of constituents including donors, board members, volunteers, and professional consultants. 
  • Exhibits qualities valued in a collaborative work environment characterized by a growth mindset: integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion, humor, creativity and persistence. 
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge database management software preferred. 
  • Required attendance at events outside working hours as necessary in support of the Council’s mission. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
