Summary

In partnership with the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Coordinator has overall responsibility for the functions of day-to-day departmental HR operations. The Human Resources Coordinator fosters and adheres to the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Initiative in all areas of Human Resources. Spirit Rock seeks applicants who have a sincere interest in the exploration of bringing the practice of mindfulness to bear in all activities of daily life. This is a hybrid on-site/remote position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General

  • First point of contact for HR-related employee inquiries. In this role, the HR Coordinator acts as a vital resource of HR information by assisting employees and supervisors with interpretation of HR policies and procedures. Helps to foster positive employee relations by answering employee questions and concerns.
  • Maintains documentation, files, and filing system
  • Assists the HR Manager in developing and implementing staff training with primary focus on Performance Management, Communications, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Coordinate and deliver new-employee on-boarding orientation and benefit enrollment needs
  • Process employee terminations ensuring all steps are completed according to procedure
  • Enter and maintain data in HRIS which includes running reports as required
  • Organize departmental events and celebrations, ensuring smooth and successful planning, logistics, handling, and delivery
  • Performs HR duties and projects as requested by HR Manager
     

Benefits Administration

  • Administers various employee benefits programs health benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Conducts benefits orientations and explains the HRIS automated benefits enrollment system to new employees
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
  • Administers the coordination of COBRA notification for terminated employees
  • Assists Accounting with reconciling monthly benefits billings and invoices. Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives

Recruiting

  • Collaborates with the HR Manager with the coordination of recruitment efforts including preparing job postings, posting to internal website and external job sites, reviewing applications, conducting phone screens, coordinating and participating in the interview process, and assisting with the creation of interview questions, while upholding and adhering to Spirit Rock’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiative.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with the highest degree of integrity. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Minimum of three years experience in Human Resources
  • Foundational training and experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Knowledge and applied experience with HR best practices and the ability to safeguard confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and time-management skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and ability to track multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite and HRIS database management
  • Must be professional, diplomatic, and able to serve a variety of constituents with mindfulness, equity, fairness, and tact
  • Demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect an optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to the needs of the staff
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment
  • A sincere interest in the mission and values of Spirit Rock

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent experience
