POSITION OVERVIEW – MANAGER, PORTFOLIO 

New Profit is looking for a strategic thinker and strong project manager to play a key role in managing the Portfolio team. The Portfolio, Performance, and Support team is responsible for investment selection, portfolio performance measurement, and design and delivery of our grantee support model. This Manager will serve as a project manager and team coordinator, supporting the team in managing overall project plans to achieve our portfolio goals, supporting team meetings and coordination, as well as engaging in key activities in each of our sub-functions. This manager will also take on core responsibilities related to our Investment Selection activities, including supporting the development of our pipeline strategy and our process to engage constituents in our grantee selection processes. 

         
Team Management & Planning 

• Work closely with the PPS team Co-Leaders to develop annual goals and mechanisms to track against those goals on a regular basis 
• Support planning and facilitation of weekly PPS team meetings which include workstream reviews, culture building, and planning
• Coordinate with other teams to ensure Portfolio work is shared and coordinated with Investor Relations, Communications, and others 

Investment Selection 

• Support the development and execution of a proactive pipeline building strategy that reflects our organization’s values, grant-making priorities, principles, and align with portfolio composition targets.   
• Support the development and execution of a coordinated strategy for integrating constituent voice (e.g. parents, workers, etc.) in New Profit’s selection activities and approach.
• Capture and communicate - internally and externally - lessons learned and field trends identified through pipeline building and selection cycles. 
• Engage in Investment Selection processes to identify grantee-partners including reading and reviewing applications and performing organizational diligence with the Investment Selection team. 

Special Projects 

• Support and lead on as needed projects throughout the portfolio team. This could include: 
• Supporting New Profit partners on strategic projects for grantees 
• Engaging in codification and learning projects to develop toolkits for grantees
• Supporting the planning and execution of events for portfolio grantees 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Demonstrated passion for and commitment to New Profit’s mission through leadership experience in high-growth, entrepreneurial organizations
• Experience in strong project management across multiple, complex projects in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent New Profit and its portfolio organizations in a professional, engaging, and dynamic manner
• Ability and willingness to switch between work that that requires high level strategic thinking, and work that is more focused on logistics, operations, and execution 

STARTING SALARY: $80,000

LOCATION:

We have a preference for candidates based in Boston or DC, however we are open to remote candidates along the East Coast or nationally with occasional travel to Boston.
