The Opportunity: 

The Sr. Director, Digital Marketing is responsible for building and leading the digital marketing strategy that will enable The Mission Continues to grow our movement of veteran-led service. This position will have responsibility for the organization’s digital engagement channels primarily:  email marketing, digital advertising, and social media, and combines strategic and tactical expertise in developing and leading digital marketing and communications initiatives and campaigns. In this role, you will manage a digital team to design and implement campaigns that meet our marketing goals for veteran and donor acquisition, veteran and donor engagement, online fundraising, and brand awareness. The right candidate has a growth-oriented mindset, is comfortable operating in a “start-up” environment, and is passionate about using technology to bring people together to help solve complex problems.

What You Will Do:

    • Develop and implement an annual digital marketing strategy and targeted multi-channel marketing programs that build profitable, long-term relationships with donors, veterans and volunteers.
    • Lead the performance coaching, management, and professional development of a three-person digital marketing team responsible for social media (all platforms), email marketing, digital advertising, customer journey mapping and analytics reporting.  
    • Leverage digital marketing strategy, platforms, and channels to steward existing donors and increase our network of individual donors to achieve organizational growth and revenue goals.
    • As a key leader on the Marketing/Communications/Development team, you will be responsible for reaching an assigned revenue target through online fundraising.
    • Establish national digital engagement metrics across all channels, and use data to drive strategic decision making.
    • Work with leadership to build a marketing budget that supports strategic objectives, and manage that budget, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately and driving towards organizational success.
    • Monitor and optimize campaign metrics; provide thought leadership and recommendations in order to maximize KPIs.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of, and hands-on experience in current digital marketing tools including: Google Analytics data interpretation and analysis, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Pay-Per-Click (PPC) standards and best practices.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Who We Are Looking For:

    • Minimum 10 years' experience in digital marketing or demand generation with experience in Digital Ad Operations, Campaign or Project Management.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals through online engagement and marketing.
    • Expertise in Web optimization and Web analytics, marketing, communications, and creating multi-channel user journeys to acquire, activate, and retain supporters.
    • Exceptional communications/interpersonal skills to clearly articulate ideas, frame challenges, highlight opportunities, and offer solutions.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, utilize resources, and meet deadlines.
    • Excels in mentoring and coaching a team.
    • Experience with Salesforce.com (CRM) or comparable platform.
    • Experience with paid digital media, including utilizing services such as AdWords, promoting YouTube videos, Facebook posts, and sponsored Tweets to drive key outcomes and goals a plus.
    • Must be able to motivate and lead others in the development, direction and execution of a marketing strategy.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
